Book of Ruth
Pronunciation:
Authorship and Origin:
Ruth lived during the time of the judges (see the book of Judges). The book was probably
written down during David's time. Based on the writings, it appears that Ruth was David's
great-grandmother, which means she lived during the time of Gideon.
Overview and Significant sections
Much can be learned from studying this short book. It demonstrates that there was always
a pocket of the faithful (or a remant) still left in Israel. The book tells a simple story
and is interesting reading. Naomi and Ruth show wisdom and stamina in the presence of a
very hard situation.
