FAITH MISSIONARY BAPTIST MISSIONS ABOUT MYANMAR (Burma) Myanmar (Burma) is country of forests, hills, and valleys located in southeast Asia. It is considered a poor country, and has been relatively closed to outsiders in recent years. The Facts About Myanmar Area………….678500 km2 (Slightly smaller than Texas) Capital City…..Rangon (now called Yangon) Population……55 Million Official Language..Burmese & Minority ethnic Languages Religions……… Buddhism 89% Muslim 4% Animist 1% others 2% Christian 4%(Including Roman Catholics, Liberal groups and nominal Christians ) BACKGROUND FAITH MISSIONARY BAPTIST MISSIONS came into being in Yangon, Myanmar in May 8, 1997 asa result of the burden and vision Lord had given to brother Paul H.Van Hre, its Founder-Director, to be achannel for reaching lost souls for Jesus Christ. They desired a missionary outreach that would emphasize the local Church ideology of the New Testament, and believing that the historic Baptist witness had been seriously weakened in missionary outreach by the movement known as Ecumenicalism, the three brothers established this mission. The mission promotes a positive program of reaching lost souls for Jesus Christ. This program stresses every method of Scriptural evangelism (Mk. 16:15) that includes the baptizing, training, and discipling of converts (Mt. 28:18,19), which results in the organization of New Testament local churches (Acts 2:41, 42,47). The Mission opposes Modernism, and the ecumenical movements as well as compromising ecumenical evangelism ( 2 Cor. 6:14-15). The theme for FMBM is taken from Ph.1:21"For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain." PURPOSE AND CHARACTER The purpose of the Mission is to carry out the great commission of Jesus Christ (Mt. 28:18-19; Mk. 16:15), and to establish biblically-sound churches that are self-governing, self-supporting, and selfpropagating. This mission is a Biblical Baptist mission concerned with propagating the Gospel of the Grace of God as revealed in the Scriptures. It is evangelistic in that its members regard then winning of souls to Christ as a primary objective. BELIEF We believe in the inspiration of the scriptures, are without error in the original writings, centered on the Lord Jesus Christ, and are the whole authority in matters of doctrine and conduct for the believer. (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Tim. 2:15; Heb. 4:12; 2 Pet. 1:20; Luke 24:27; John 17:17). We believe in One Sovereign God who exists in three persons: God the Father (Eph. 1:2-3, God the Son (Heb 1:8; Rom. 1:8), and God the Holy Spirit (Acts 5:3-4; 1 Cor. 6:11). We believe in the virgin birth of Christ, His Deity, and sinless life, His vicarious death, along with His bodily resurrection and ascension, and in His personal, pre-millennial return. (John 1:1-4; 10:30; Phil. 2:5- 8; John 19:32-34; 1 Cor. 15:3-4; Col. 1:16-17; Acts 1:11; 1 John 2:28). We believe the Holy Spirit is the executive of the Godhead. We believe that He executes the plan of God for our conviction and salvation. Christians are partakers of the Holy Spirit and empowered for service by Him. (John 14:11) We believe that man was created in the image of god and by choice fell into sin and death. Hence, every person is sinful and under condemnation to eternal Judgment. (Rom. 3:10-12, 23; 1 John 1:7-8; Eph. 2:1-3; Rom. 6:23; John 3:36; 1 Thess. 4:13). We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace, and that Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation. We believe that those who receive Jesus Christ as Savior are eternally secure. Our security rests on the finished work of Jesus Christ. As a result, we have assurance. (Gal. 3:26; Eph. 2:8-9; Titus 3:4-7; Rom. 8:35-39; 1 John 5:11-13). We believe that then visible church is a congregation of baptized believers, practicing New Testament Principles, believing its doctrines, observing its ordinances, and exercising its autonomy. (Acts 2:41-44; Eph. 4:11-12; Rom. 12:4-5; Heb. 10:24-25; Matt. 28:19-20; 1 Cor. 11:23 ff). We believe in the eternal blessedness of the saved in Heaven and the eternal punishment of the lost in Hell. (Rom. 8:10-15; 1 Thess. 4:16-17; 1 Cor. 15:20-23, 51-55; John 3:15-16, Rev. 21:3-4; Rev. 20:5- 6, 11-15). We believe in the "Great Commission" to make disciples of all nations by evangelizing, baptizing, and teaching. (Matt. 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:45-49; Acts 1:8). MINISTRIES:- I. REACHING THE UNREACHED GROUPS (Church Planting) This is our first priority and life long goal. Our vision is to have 50 missionaries and 30 local churches by 2005. $ 50.00 monthly can support one missionary in rural areas. And $ 80.00 monthly can support one Family in rural areas. Since this is faith ministry, we expect our missionaries to trust God his/her own support. We are having about 15 missionaries whom we are partnering with. They have been working without regular support but very committed to the ministry of the Lord. It is our desire that FMBM may be able to support them financially. That the reason why we do need a biblical mission which could assist our ministries. II. FAITH MISSIONARY TRAINING INSTITUTE ( Train national men to be servant leader) This training is designed for people who fully committed to the ministry of the Lord. This is 3 months training. God really blesses this ministry. III. PRINTING AND PUBLICATION MINISTRY We have a Bi-Monthly magazine namely "KNOWLEDGE" based on Hosea 4:6, ":.... My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge..". We have 100,00 readers. We can reach many people by this magazine. You too can be a partner in this faith ministry. "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give, not grugingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver" (2 Cor. 9:7). FMBM is looking for a mission which could assist our ministries. If the Lord has laid a burden on your heart to share in this ministry, you can sacrificially share your gift for the ministry of the Lord in Myanmar. Yours in His Vineyard, Paul H.Van Hre Director of FMBM
