I was born June 13, 1947 and raised in a poor, rough neighborhood of St. Louis, Mo. I started using alcohol and drugs at a very early age. By the time I was 14 I had been arrested and sent to reform school for several counts of armed robbery with a sawed-off shotgun and a 38 caliber pistol. Throughout my early youth, my antisocial and criminal behavior resulted in three trips to reform school and two stretches in a prison that had been nicknamed "the bloodiest 40 acres in America". Obviously this wasn't going to be the best formula for a bright and prosperous future. However, something quite miraculous happened! God intervened and turned the course of my life around! I have pastored five churches since 1979 and am currently working on my Masters/Doctorate in Biblical Counseling. Many of the places I am invited to speak at are in detention centers, jails, and reform (training) schools. I am also available to speak at churches and other public gatherings as requested and time permits. Please feel free to contact me by phone or e-mail if you or your church would be interested in having me schedule a visit.
I was released from prison for the last time in September of 1973. I had a strong desire to help others avoid the mistakes I had made, so I began to work with troubled youth in the Kansas City area. I went to work as a youth counselor for the 16th Judicial Circuit, Juvenile Division during the early to mid 70's, beginning just a month after my release from state prison. It was on February 10, 1974 when I finally surrendered my life to Jesus during a revival meeting that a friend invited me to attend one evening. This began a chain of events whereby God called me to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in 1979. While serving as pastor of a small Iowa church in 2003, the Lord layed it on my heart to write a book about how He has delivered me from the hand of the enemy. A book called "Pulling No Punches" was subsequently written and published as a result of this calling. God also called me to reach out to others who are in that same situation in this generation. I am available and committed to giving my personal testimony and encouragement to any church, organization, or group who has a desire to reach out to others with the love of Jesus Christ.
