What Is Zephyr Ministries?

Zephyr Ministries, a non-profit corporation established December 1990, is based on I Kings 19:11 (NIV). Zephyr means "gentle whisper" or a "soft, gentle breeze". Using various media, the primary purpose is to teach the Word of God and use contemplative prayer to hear His voice.

Jean Marie Mitchell attended a Christian meditation seminar Summer of 1978. In silent communion with her Shepherd, through Bible parables, she came to know Jesus Christ as His love was revealed! Inspired by the Holy Spirit, she began to write meditations as an intercessor for others. After graduation June 1982, with a B.S. in General Studies from Eastern Oregon State College, Jean Marie worked as social worker counselor, and teacher aide with people of different ages, cultures and economic levels: physically handicapped, developmentally delayed, dementia, learning disabled, mentally ill, alcoholics and addicts. She has also served as lay minister of prayer and lead speaker at retreats and prayer groups. Hunger for His Word led to completion of an A.A. degree in Practical Theology at Pacific N.W. Bible Training Center in 1986. Jesus' reminder to "teach them of my love" became more insistent and the vision to share the meditations focused in clarity. Dan Burr of Eagle Ministries was consulted as producer and composer. His eager reply,"I'd be glad to be part of this unique and gifted ministry." Her Pastor and Servant's Council unanimously confirmed this vision. In December 1995, "Love Notes", a cassette of Christian meditations presented by Zephyr Ministries, was released.

About The Meditations:

Meditate means to ponder, think deeply or intently, muse or reflect. Christian meditation, or contemplative prayer, must always be based on God's Word. References are from Genesis 24:63 to I Timothy 4:15. His truth speaks to our spirit as we are still before Him (John 4:24) God intended to bless and guide His people with meditation, but Satan has diverted it into Eastern theologies and occult practices. Thus, His gift has been neglected, feared, or ignored. God has given Jean Marie a new name and song to proclaim His praises to the people. "Love Notes", with original instumental accompaniment, are meant to edify, comfort, and heal.(John 6:40)Jesus says "This is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him should have eternal life." It is my earnest desire that those who hear these meditations might also see and believe that the love of Jesus Christ is real! It has been a blessing and privilege to join with Dan Burr in presenting this ministry.
