Light In The Darkness Ministries, Inc. is a family ministry of the David Trawick family. When David and LaDonna were in their youth, both felt the call of God to the ministry. As each separately began to prepare for the work of the Lord, the burden to minister to Hispanic people became evident. After pastoring in the US for a total of 4 years, the Lord said, "It is time. Go!" Selling all that could be sold and giving away what remained, they left for San Luis Potosí, SLP, México in 1998. San Luis Potosí is a city of approximately 1.5 million people and is located in the heart of México in a state of the same name. It is almost 500 miles from Laredo, TX. God gave the call and provided the means to fulfill that call. The first year and a half was spent learing the Spanish language and the Mexican culture. Each family member is active in the full time ministry. Tabitha and Lydia were 5 and 3, respectively, when the family moved to San Luis Potosí. They love México and speak Spanish like native Mexicans!!
Iglesia de Santidad El Faro de Esperaza - Lighthouse of Hope Holiness Church
Started in September of 2002, Lighthouse of Hope is an outreach to the families of the surrounding colonias. Services are held Sudays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Our burden is to raise up a classical Pentecostal church that reaches the community, yet also fosters a World outreach. We have seen several come through the Lighthouse of Hope, but stability is needed. We have some new converts that we are praying will be able to stand steadfast.
Iglesia de Santidad El Faro de la Fe - Lighthouse of Faith Holiness Church
December 24, 2003 was the first time for us to hold a service in the Rancho La Rinconada, a small rural village. The village has approximately 1,000 people and one Christian lady. She and her unsaved husband allow us to hold services beside their humble home. The services are in the open air and we are making plans to build a small room to temporarily house the services until growth demands a larger place. There are around 20 -25 children who attend. There are also 4-6 mothers who come occasioally. There is a great potential in this area.
La Hora de Los Niños - The Children's Hour
The Children's Hour is the most physically taxing of all the ministries, yet it is truly the most fun! Children come for one hour to sing, color, and hear the Bible stories. Scripture is memorized each week. There are also several mothers who attend. We have seen this class grow and decline and grow again. Almost all of the childre have absolutely no church backrgound. We have gained families into the church through this ministry. La Hora de Los Niños is held weekly at both churches.
Federal and State Prison Ministry
Once a week on Tuesday, we go to the Federal and State Prison to minister to the Mexican inmates. Often, we are the ones ministered to by the contagious joy and love of the inmates. Several of these inmates have really grown spiritually. Some have even begun to preach or lead prayer meetings on their own. The Trawick family also ministers to the American inmates in the SLP prison. Permission was grated to visit the US inmates on behalf of the US Consulate. This is a compassion ministry in which we deliver personal items and our girls color and deliver pictures for the inmates. We are allowed to visit individually with any Americans who request a visit. It is amazing to see the changes in the lives of inmates.
