New Foundation Ministries
Jesus is the Cornerstone

Reentry into society after incarceration can be difficult for ex-offenders, particularly those who have been institutionalized for quite some time. Surviving and thriving in the outside world is s day to day challenge.

In 1993, 117,000 ex-offenders returned to society. In 2003, more than 600,000 will be returned. One study indicates that within 3 years of release, 66% will be convicted of a serious crime and be returned to prison. Another puts the number somewhat lower at 46%. Something is seriously missing in the way we return ex-offenders to society; as a ministry, we believe Christ is needed first and foremost. The best news for ex-offenders is that there are people interested in them again. There is a very pragmatic reason why the effort of New Foundation Ministries should succeed where other programs have failed. Research indicates greatest failures where programs are not God centered and show no compassion. No one is romanticizing what prisoners are like. But as Christians we know we are all made in God's image and all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. We must not forget that there are no degrees of sin in the eyes of God. Sin is sin. We should not judge a person for the sins they committed but rather, as Christians, look to help them reenter society as contributing members, worshipping God each and every day. By doing so we should prove that no one should be returned to prison because no one cared. Vision: To train and equip ex-offenders with the necessary skills and resources needed to become viable and productive members of society, to help heal the emotional and spiritual wounds of incarceration while keeping God central in life. Mission: To train volunteers from churches and ministries to provide aftercare to ex-offenders, and their families, returning back home with the goal that no one in the program will be incarcerated again. The New Foundation Ministries initiative is designed to assist ex-offenders integrate successfully back into society. We are partnering with businesses, churches and community organizations to provide job training, employment and community support needed for them to succeed. This ministry is a step in faith and as such must be supported, solely, by donations, gifts, offerings and endowments. We are non-profit and staffed with volunteers who serve as mentors and counselors, but we need your help with our ongoing needs.
