What is this "Mission House" and what can it do for me???
The 'Mission House' was established by Brendan D. Lemieux with the purpose of ministering to the college-age community in the east valley area of Phoenix, Arizona, especially at St. Timothy's Catholic Community in Mesa, AZ. It is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary for she cares for us as a loving mother and leads us always to her Divine Son, Jesus Christ! It is a place for Christian fellowship and prayer, and a place where Catholics in particular can grow in their faith and deepen their knowledge and appreciation of Roman Catholic history, doctrine, and theology (through our reading materials and videos.) It is open to brothers and sisters of any Christian denomination!
Who lives in this 'Mission House' and what is the role of its residents?
This home is open to any men ages 18-25 who feel called to live out their faith more intensely and devote their lives to serving the community in this fashion. It is a place for discernment as to their life's vocation-whether religious life or married life-and a place to break themselves of their own will by means of prayer, fasting, and humble service to eachother and to all our brothers and sisters in Christ.
What kind of ministries are available at the 'Mission House'?
The Mission House is new as of November 2000, so our ministries are still getting off the ground. Right now we host a Young Men's Fellowship group(ages 18-25)which is a branch of the CollegeLIFE group at St. Timothy's Catholic Community on Monday evenings at 7:30. In this group we share our lives and struggles as we seek to build eachother up as Men of God. It consists of prayer, especially the Rosary, small group sharing to build accountability, and a weekly topic presented by members of the group. We close with praise and worship music. Men's Fellowship may also consist of a social activity or a sports & recreation night.
Social events held at the house include a monthly friday night Praise'n'Barbecue. We start with food and socializing, then we gather in for live praise and worship led by resident music ministers. There is also at least one regular Praise and Worship night scheduled each month usually on a Thursday evening after St Timothy's 7:00 pm Mass
The house is open at any time if you need a peaceful place for personal prayer, scripture study, or if you just need someone to talk to! We also have a wide variety of Christian reading material from theology to fiction. Please call ahead. The telephone number is 480-777-5119 or feel free to e-mail us at the address below.
To provide a home where college-age men are called to live their Catholic faith more intensely through prayer, accountability, and (most importantly,) humble service to the college-age community.
Please pray for this ministry as we seek to love and follow Christ more deeply, and lay down our lives that we may help build His Kingdom on this earth through our "Mission House". Thank You and may the LORD bless you.
All Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. AMEN!
