The name of this society shall be known as Columbus Ministerial Alliance of the African Methodist Church.
We, the African Methodist Episcopal Ministers of Columbus Georgia and
vicinity, in order to form a more perfect union, have a better understanding and work in harmony among ourselves, and be more
helpful in our church and secure the blessings of genuine
fellowship, do ordain and establish this constitution.
ARTICLE I
Section 1. The officers of the alliance shall be a President,
Vice-President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Chorister
Marshall or Chaplain, Assistant Chaplain, Librarian, Critic, Reporter
Officers shall perform the duties and Parliamentarian. These prescribed by these bylaws.
Section 2. The membership of this alliance shall be limited to
Ordained Ministers of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and
any other included Methodist Church.
Section 3. Any ordained minister or preacher in good and regular
standing in our church or any other Methodist or Evangelical
Church, who lives within a radius of 50 miles of Columbus, may
become a member by subscribing to this constitution and bylaws.
Section 4. The initiation fee shall be $5.00 dollars. The annual dues shall be $60.00 dollars, payable in monthly installment of
$ 5.00. The Treasurer shall notify members three (3) months in arrears, and those whose dues are not paid within six 6 thereafter
lose their right to vote and hold office until all dues are paid in full.
Section 5. No member or non-member in arrears for dues or any
assessments(maximum I year)levied by the alliance shall exercise
any privileges or rights as a member of the alliance until such
dues or assessments have been paid; the President is empowered to
strictly enforce this law.
Section 6. The regular monthly meeting of the ministerial alliance
shall be held on the 4th Saturday of each month from August to
June inclusive unless otherwise ordered by the alliance
President.
Section 7. The regular monthly meeting on the 3rd Saturday in
July shall be known as the Annual meeting and shall be for the
purpose and electing officers receiving report of officers and
committees, and any other business that may arise.
Section 8, The alliance will meet at 8:30am at such place as a
majority of the members present shall agree upon, providing no
change of time of meeting shall be made without one week's
notice, unless the cause for change is self-evident.
Section 9. Ten members of the alliance shall constitute a quorum
or whom shown up prior to the meeting.

ARTICLE II
COMMITTEES
Section 1. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE Defines to be the clearing house
for the alliance. It shall be President, Secretary, Treasurer and
two(2) members at large to be elected. Its duties shall be to
sift, discuss and put into shape for consideration of the alliance
all items of business or communication that will require the
attention of the alliance prior to its consideration by the
executive committee to work to save the alliance.
Section 2. Finance Committee composed of the treasurer and four
other members shall be appointed by the president promptly after
each annual meeting. It shall be the duty of this committee to
prepare a budget for the fiscal year beginning the 4th Saturday
in June and submit it to the alliance at its regular meeting in
August. The finance committee may from time to time submit
amendments to the budget for the current fiscal year, which may be
adopted by a majority vote.
Section 3. Auditing Committee consist of three members appointed
by the president at the alliance August meeting, whose duty shall
be to audit the treasurer accounts at the close of the fiscal
year and to report at the annual meeting.
Section 4. Civic Committee(public relation)duty is to look after
the questions, rights of citizens or such things as embrace civic
righteousness or legislation.
Section 5. Program Committee duties are to arrange a quarterly
program of subjects and speakers for the alliance and such other
public exercise as the alliance may direct. The program committee
at the close of each year shall prepare the program for the
ensuing year and report at last meeting of the years.
Section 6. Current Events Committee duties are to report to the
Alliance for consideration each month any political body or
synod, either touching the political or religious work of- the
African Methodist Episcopal Church in general.
Section 7. Printing Committee duties are to print literature,
book pamphlets, dogears and other matter that shall be necessary
for the good and advancement of the works of the alliance. All
notices to be sent out local and publisher.
Section 8. Benevolent Committee duties is to visit or arrange for
such visitation of such members of the alliance as shall be
confined to their homes, by reason of sickness, report to the
Alliance their condition, that they may provide, if necessary, such
financial relief as may be required. The benevolent committee
shall receive from the treasurer necessary funds for the sick and
floral requirements when needed, ordered by president and approved
by the body.
Section 9. Memorial Committee duty is to draft such resolutions
or expressions of sympathy or condolence upon the death of any
leading African Methodist Episcopal member of the alliance or 1
Church will be befitting the dignity of the alliance and have the
same published in the church organs and conveys a copy of the same
to the family of the deceased.
Section 10. Nominating Committee consist of five members elected
by the alliance. It duty is to nominate candidates for the -offices
to be filled at the annual meeting in It shall report at the
regular meeting in July, additional nominations from the floor
shall be permitted.
Section 11. Any other committee, standing or special, shall be
appointed by the president as the society or the executive board
shall from time to time deem necessary to carry on the work of
the alliance. The president shall be ex official a member of all
Committee except the nominating committee.
ARTICLE III
OFFICERS
These bylaws may be amended at any regular meeting of the
Alliance by two-thirds vote, provided that the amendment has been
submitted in writing at the previous regular meeting.
Section 1. There shall be a public installation of off ic6ts of
the alliance. A sermon shall be preached and other preliminary
exercise shall be arranged by the program. The installation shall
be by the Presiding Bishop of the District or in his absence by
such persons as shall be named by the alliance or program
Committee. All officers of the alliance will be elected annually.
Section 2. The officers shall be elected by ballot to serve for
one(1)year or until their successors are elected, and their term
of office shall begin at the close of the annual meeting at which
they are elected. No officer shall hold more than one office at a
time, and no officer shall be eligible to serve more than two
consecutive terms in the same office.
Section 3. The President shall preside at Alliance when he/she is
present and shall p all meetings of the perform all duties pertaining
to the office. He/she shall have special watch over interest of the
alliance and shall work in harmony with the members thereof. He/she
shall appoint all committees, standing and special, unless otherwise
ordered by the alliance. He/she shall state all motions subject to
the usual parliamentary practice.
Section 4. The Vice President shall be in charge of all duties
of the President in his/her absence or inability of that officer
to be present or preside; he/she shall assist in maintains the
interest of the alliance and take such part or parts as may be
agreed upon between the two.
Section 5. The Secretary shall keep a true and correct record of
all general correspondence of the same, acting as a medium of
communication between it and other similar organization or any
Organizations that may communicate with the alliance.
Section 6. The Assistant Secretary shall perform all the duties
of the secretary in his/her absence or inability and shall assist
the secretary at any time upon his/her request.
7. The Treasurer shall deposit all monies collected into
Section an account. He/she shall pay out funds of the alliance upon
approval by the President and the majority vote. He/she shall also
pay over to the sick committee funds necessary for sick and
floral requirements as it becomes necessary. The alliance will
maintain bank account and will require that the President, Finance
Secretary, Treasurer and the Presiding Elder of the local district
name be placed on the signature card.
Section 8. The Chaplain shall perform all duties that his/her
office indicates as to leading the singing for the alliance. The
Chaplain shall conduct the prayer service or devotional service
for the alliance such as bible study and topics of the bible
approve by the president. He/she will lecture or speech in a
timely manual.
Section 9. The Assistant Chaplain shall perform all duties of the
Chaplain in his/her absence or inability to fill office.
Section 10. The Critic shall make known without reference to any
particular person all errors in language, quotation or other
things as come within the scope of literature and anything that
affects the decorum of the body.
ARTICLE IV
MEMBERS
Sections 1. Any member w1no refuse to confirm to the Constitution
and By-laws shall be subject to expulsion by two-thirds vote of
the members present, but no motion to expel a member shall be
acted upon at the same meeting at which its offered.
Section 2. the same rules as to amendments shall apply to the
Bylaws as to the Constitution.
Section 3. No standing or special committee sent out by the
Alliance shall in any way bind the alliance for the payment of
any financial obligation or committee organization until said
Organization or part of obligation has been approved by this
Alliance appointed or sent out by this alliance.
Section 4. It shall be the duty of the alliance to have at so-me
stated time at each and every African Methodist Episcopal
Church, in or near the city some public exercise on Sunday
afternoon, touching either or both civic or religious subjects, the
program for such public meetings to be arranged by the committee
on programs. This shall be done every three(3)months.
