The Shepherd's Staff is a weekly commentary which addresses issues involving pastoral work and the Christian faith. It is written to bring hope and inspiration, as well as encouragement for all ministers, whether in full-time, or part-time ministry.
Success in ministry is often gauged by numbers. The number of people in attendance in a church service and so on. However, numbers cannot accurately portray either the effectiveness, nor the ineffectiveness of ministry. Effectiveness in ministry should always be judged by a person's ability to edify Christ. When Christ is edified, He naturally "draws all men to Himself." When Christ is magnificantly edified, such as in the case of Peter's message on Pentecost, thousands of people respond with conviction, repentance, and commitment.
