Shake shook the ground!

What is freedom? Ask Shake Kontos, currently the strongest man in the world for his age, who created a great impact even among the secular media in Bangalore. Shake, who single handedly pulled a bus on the Palace Grounds, Bangalore, tore apart Bangalore telephone directory, broke the strongest police cuffs as if breaking thread says "real freedom we get in Jesus, freedom from every bondage, the rest are all temporary". Shake, who woke the slumber of the Bangalore youth from 25th to 29thof Nov'98 received a 45 year jail sentence for doing drugs and alcohol. But he turned to God and seeing he was changed, the judge pardoned him and he goes around the world, telling the youth, "There is freedom in Jesus". Any one irrespective of the age group is impressed by feats of strength and Impact World Tour (members from 20 nations) beautifully combined strength, power, sports, dance and cultural performance and gave the Bangalore youth a feast for their life time! Interestingly they did talk a lot on the importance of soul and over 11,000 decision cards turned in, which shows nearly 90 percentage are non-Christians.

Home minister's statement refuted

Mr. John Dayal, Convenor of the United Christian Forum for Human Rights has said in a statement that the Home Minister's statement that 12 of the 24 accused in the Jhabua Nun's rape case were Christians was false. He said a local enquiry by the Bishop has revealed that none of the 24 accused was a Christian. Sr Lily Mary, the Superior General of the Foreign Missionary Sisters met everyone concerned including the top police officers dealing with the case. She says " None whatsoever. It is a lie. I was given all the information about the accused and the arrested - their names, places and their case history. Not a single one of them is a Christian. In the entire tribe our Sisters were serving, only about 20 are Christians.

Strategic Evangelism Partnership
By the year 2020, India will have become the most populous country in the world with nearly 1.3 billion people. In 1991,four thousand six hundred and thirty five communities of peoples groups were identified in India. No other country in the world has such a diversity and concentration of unreached peoples and it will take the concerted effort of a number of ministries to reach these people. Interdev is a ministry that emphasises the importance of partnership. At Interdev, they bring the right ministries together in effective partnership for fruitful evangelism and discipleship all over the world. Under the auspices of Evangelical Fellowship of India, a Partnership Development Service is being started from December `98. Partnership increases effectiveness, reduces costs and duplicated effort and adds credibility to our message among unbelievers.

Attack continues

NEW DELHI:The United Christian Action Forum of India has registered 113 attacks on Christians and Christian missions this year. Hindu fundamentalists are being blamed for another attack on Christians in Gujarat, where nearly three dozen assaults on Christians have been reported since March. Nearly 150 delegates attending a convention by the Alpha Missionary Movement (AMM) were forced out of their lodgings early Friday morning by members of the Hindu fundamentalist group Bajrang Dal, which used "sticks, belts, chains, and fists to mercilessly beat up the delegates as they were forced into the streets," AMM leaders complained to the governor of Gujurat. More than two dozen police responded to the attack, but they remained "mute spectators to the whole scene" as has happened in many of the recent attacks on Christians in Gujurat. Forty people were injured in the initial attack, including one person, who was pushed from a second floor window, AMM said.No arrests were made among the Hindu group. Meanwhile, another group claiming to be from Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) arrived at the convention in the early morning along with 15 policemen. After pulling down the stage decorations, the group went inside the campus where other delegates were staying. The group stole Bibles and destroyed them, and beat up the delegates, the AMM statement said. --CWN

Hospital on wings
In the first ever mission of its size, 175 medical and support volunteers from 7 different countries together with 150 Indian medical professionals provided medical, surgical, dental and optical care to 22,484 patients between the 9th and 20th of November at Hyderabad! The mission had hoped to treat 10,000 suffering men, women, and children across caste and religious barriers in Hyderabad -- the really needy who couldn't afford treatment. The inauguration ceremony on the 8th was attended by the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. C. Rangarajan, and the Chief Minister Shri Chandrababu Naidu. All the Flying Hospital and Operation Blessing volunteers had to make immense sacrifices to get there. One lady even used her life insurance to finance this trip! While the Flying Hospital met the physical needs of many people, the Good'News Festival from the 11th to the15th met the spiritual needs of many more.People poured in irrespective of religion, caste or creed Every night over 2.5 lakh people attended the meeting.God used Dr. Pat Robertson, Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran and Dr. Paul Dhinakaran to touch many lives, spiritually, mentally and physically. Thousands received Christ as their Saviour. Each night there were hundreds of miracles happening as the servants of the Lord ministered through gifts of knowledge calling people by name and mentioning their problems.
