Enlightened Word Ministries

Our History & Mission

Enlightened Word Ministries was founded as an incorporated Christian denomination in the state of Missouri in January 1995 by Arthur D. Kemp, Ph.D. Services for the ministry were initially held at the chapel on the campus of Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri. In October 1996, services were moved to the present headquarters at 708 North College Avenue in Warrensburg with the opening of the first local church planted by the denomination, Enlightened Word Christian Center. The mission of Enlightened Word Ministries is to plant and establish local Christian centers of worship nationally and internationally for individual and corporate worship and serving of God through the winning of souls and enlightening hearts for Christ. At Enlightened Word Ministries, we pray that the eyes of the understanding of God's people become enlightened, that they may know the hope of God's calling them, and the riches of the glory of his inheritance within them (cf. Ephasians 1:18). Enlightened Word Ministries is Christ Centered, Bible Centered, Prayer Centered, Worship Centered, Education Centered, and Annointed by God.

All are welcome to partake in services at our local Christian Center. Services are held each Friday evening at 6:30 p.m., Sunday Bible Institute begins at 9:30 a.m., and Sunday Morning Worship begins at 11:00 a.m. Our radio broadcast "The Enlightened Word" can be heard over 1450 KOKO each Sunday morning at 10:45 a.m.

About Our Founder & President

Dr. Arthur D. Kemp is a man of great vision. Reared in Raeford, North Carolina, he graduated with a B.A. in psychology (Magna Cum Lauda) from North Carolina A&T State University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in psychology (Phi Kappi Phi) from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. His internship in professional psychology was completed at Texas Tech University and postdoctoral fellowships in Clinical Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Neuropsychology were completed at Saint Louis University Health Sciences Center. Currently, Dr. Kemp is an associate professor of psychology at Central Missouri State University at Warrensburg.

Dr. Kemp is the founding pastor/teacher of the Enlightened Word Christian Center of Warrensburg, Missouri. An ordained elder in the Church of God founded by Jesus Christ, Dr. Kemp is working toward a diplomia in ministrial studies through Anderson School of Theology and is a certified instructor of the Evangelical Training Association.

His wife Gina holds a Master of Science degree in counseling and is a school counselor in the Warrensburg City School system. They have three sons: Austin, Anson, and Arrington.
