Launched in January 1994 Urban Solidarity seeks to help urban churches explore new approaches to ministry and mission.
Based in the town of Wolverhampton, England, (popn. 250,000) the primary focus is upon the urban churches of the town and the surrounding region.
Employing a full-time worker, Urban Solidarity
* offers churches training in mission to their local neighbourhoods and communities
* assists with the evaluation of mission programmes
* helps with the development of new mission strategies
* promotes the exploration of fresh ways of being church
* develops support networks between church and community groups
* produces a quarterly bulletin entitled "Solid News and Views"
* organises and encourages regular prayer walks
* explores key issues in urban community ministry
* gives support and encouragement to urban church community workers
The initiative is interdenominational in character.
Urban Solidarity has links with Christian churches in Birmingham,Walsall,
Plymouth, Bristol, Derby and London.
