VNet is an almost daily mailing which can contain quotes; quizzical quotes; humor; book, music and movie reviews; thoughts on life in the 90s; prayer requests/updates; missionary reports; recommended web sites; poetry & song lyrics; and mailbag for reader feedback.
The only doctrinal statement for VNet is "Jesus is Lord." Currently my readers come from various church backgrounds including: Assembly of God, Baptist, Catholic, Covenant, Community Bible, Evangelical Free, Four Square, Free Methodist, Independent, Lutheran, Nazarene, Presbyterian, Quaker, and Vineyard.
I have been a Christian since 1969, when I accepted Jesus as my savior at a poetry reading in a coffeehouse in Seattle. I was active in the Jesus People Movement in the Pacific Northwest and was part of a coffeehouse ministry in Bellingham, Washington. My wife and I have participated in almost every type of Christian fellowship and (half seriously) consider ourselves "Freelance Evangelicals." I am a musician (singer/songwriter/guitarist) and former public school music teacher (11 years). Now I am an elementary school librarian. VNet grew out of a newsletter I have published for years and out of our cyberchurch directory which I also moderate.
