A SPECIAL MESSAGE TO OUR FRIENDS
Dear Friends,
Thank you so very much for making the choice of our church for worship today. Today you may be a guest of someone who is a member of our church, or you may have learned about our church via another source. Regardless of which of the above is true, Welcome, Welcome, Welcome! So that you will feel comfortable during our worship, allow me to tell you some of the things that you may observe. I mention these things so that nothing we do will frighten you or make you uncomfortable.
The Church of God in Christ is a holiness church, and when we come to church, WE COME TO CHURCH! We come to praise the Lord. The Bible teaches us, in the 150th Psalm, to "Let everything that hath breath, praise the Lord."
Do not be alarmed if you hear the saints saying, "Amen, Praise the Lord, Hallelujah, Thank you Jesus, Wonderful Jesus, Yes Lord, etc.", for these are merely words that we use to glorify God for his goodness.
We believe in the baptism of the Holy Ghost, which enables one to speak in other tongues as the spirit gives utterance. So if you hear someone speaking in a language other than English, it is another way that God permits us to praise him.
We sing a lot during worship. We also testify to the goodness of God. We believe in dancing or rejoicing in the Lord. You will observe us clapping our hands, tapping our feet, smiling, crying and say "yes" to God.
After the message has been preached, an appeal to receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord is made. Those who respond come to the altar and kneel or stand as instructed by the minister to invite Jesus Christ into their lives.
In closing, I would like to say that Jesus is so good to us, and he loves us one and all. It is my prayer to God that you will understand a little about our way of worshipping God and, most importantly, that you feel that you are among friends and are comfortable.
