Blessed To Serve!

Carter Chapel is Amarillo's Second Oldest African-American Church. We strive to worship God in Spirit and in Truth while going on towards perfection in Christ Jesus. We believe that God has blessed us to serve our community by ministering to the homeless, the lost, the young people, and other segments in our community. We are not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and we know that faith believes that God is able.

Pastor

Our Pastor, the Reverend Michael R. DeVaughn, has been pastoring in the CME Church for ten years. An Elder in the Northwest Texas Annual Conference, he is active in the community and brings issues of faith and Christian responsibility to bear upon the problems of day to day life in an urban setting. He is a gradute of Indiana University, Bloomington, and graduated with Distintction from Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas. He has also studied at the Gandhi Peace Foundation, New Dehli, India, and the Jerusalem Center for Biblical Studies, Jerusalem, Israel.
