Worship Services for the Deaf
Eternal Mercy Lutheran Church for the Deaf seeks to meet the
unique needs of the Deaf Community. All services feature "Total
Communication", with Sign Language and Voice used simultaneously.
We rent from a hearing church, but we have our own separate
worship area. We have an active "Sign" choir led by Lordy Smith.
Our congregational President is Oma K. Presley
The East Memphis Deaf Basketball Team practices in our gym.
We have a monthly meal and fellowship time at the start of each
month. On Wednesday evenings we have a special Worship service
with music and Bible Study. This service is held at
Oakville Nursing Home on Old Getwell Rd. 7 PM
On Sundays, taped music is used
in our worship services for the benefit of the hearing children
and hearing spouses of some members,
as well as members who are hard of hearing. We occassionaly
offer Sign Language classes. Call for more information!
