History
The West Chazy Wesleyan Church was originally organized in 1839 as the First Methodist Protestant Church. It was reorganized as the First Wesleyan Methodist Church in 1843. The change came because of the question of Slavery and Church government. The Wesleyan Methodist church has a history of supporting the abolition of slavery and later the rights of women.In 1968 the Wesleyan Methodist church merged with the Pilgrim Holiness to become the Wesleyan Church.
