We are a congregation of the <a href=http://www.rca.org>Reformed Church in America</a>,
the oldest continuous Protestant denomination in North America.
We are Reformed in our theology and Presbyterian in our form of government.
<br><br>
<b>WE ARE A PLACE TO WORSHIP.</b> We can withdraw from the busy activities of the week to worship God in
silent meditation and joyful praise. First Reformed Church is such a place.
We sing songs and choruses of praise, share our joys and needs before God in
prayer, hear the Word of God, and proclaim it in the sermon. We worship
with a sense of God's majesty, love, forgiveness, and His living presence.

<b>WE ARE A PLACE TO BELONG.</b> We belong to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ and to His Church. We
encourage one another, meet the needs of one another, and enjoy our shared
faith as we fellowship and worship together. We study God's Word in Bible
studies and Sunday School. We share the love of God with one another.

<b>WE ARE A PLACE TO GROW AND REACH OUT.</b> We have a vision to grow in faith and in number. We nurture our faith so that
we can share it with others.We seek ways of sharing God's love in the community
by Word and by our actions.</h5>

<DT><b>OUR PURPOSE</b>
<DD>To glorify and worship our awesome God by obeying His call to be a people
set apart with a specific task, by obeying His commandments and
commission. This means to be ever growing in our knowledge and
relationship with God to become more Christlike and to know Him on a
personal basis. This is then lived out in our fellowship with one another and in
our actively revealing God to others so they too may become disciples.

belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of<br>

<DT><B>OUR MINISTRY</B>
<DD>Our ministry is to deepen our love and commitment to God, focusing on our
Lord Jesus Christ. This makes our ministry a thankful and joyful response
to who God is and what He has done. This is to take place in each of our
hearts on an individual basis, while being taught and encouraged by the
fellowship in which our faith find it's expression.<br><br>
Our ministry is to beautify the fellowship, the bride of Christ so that we
become a beautiful, living epistle which reflects the glory of God. This takes
place in worship, in group study, in caring for one another, in shared
ministries, in our homes, and in social fellowship.<br><br>
Our ministry is to reach out with the love and word of God. People are
hurting and we can share in Christ's ministry of healing and reconciliation.
Our target will be to minister to families in their areas of need and to offer to
them opportunities to grow spiritually and to know and experience God in our
fellowship.<br><br>

<LI><b>We Believe...</b>
<UL>
<LI>The Bible is the inspired Word of God, absolutely inerrant in the original
languages.
<LI>In a Triune God - one eternal God in three persons - the Father, the Son
(Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit.
<LI>Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation.
<LI>Jesus Christ became man, died on the cross for every believer, was buried,
raised from the dead, and ascended to heaven where He reigns and intercedes
for us. He will come again at which time every individual will be accountable to
Him at the final judgement.
<LI>The Holy Spirit indwells every believer, transforming them into the image of
Jesus Christ and equipping them with spiritual gifts necessary for ministry.
<LI>Jesus is the Head of the Church and we are instituted to worship God and
proclaim Him.
<LI>As a response to God's love, we are to live according to God's Word. To obey
His laws. To love Him and one another, not out of fear but out of gratitude.
<LI>The Lord's Supper and Baptism are Sacraments instituted by Jesus Christ.
They are visible signs of God's invisible grace.
<LI>All who are members of a church and have accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour
are invited to the Lord's Table. (We celebrate communion 5 times per year).
<LI>Children of believers participate in God's covenant promises and His blessings, of
which baptism is a sign and seal.
<LI>God is sovereign. He is a God who restores us and sustains us. He is our
ever-present help, our Providence.
