Our Name</h3>
Often people ask about the name, Church of the Nazarene.<BR>
We're glad they do, for it gives us opportunity to explain something<BR>
about who we are.<BR>
Just as people who live in Calgary are called Calgarians, and<BR>
people who live in Toronto are known as Torontonians, so, Jesus was <BR>
called a "Nazarene" since he came from the town of Nazareth, a rather <BR>
poor town in Galilee.<BR>
Although people used the term "Nazarene" as an insult, Jesus<BR>
welcomed the identity as one willing to associate with the lonely<BR>
and forgotten of his day. Likewise, our name reminds us of our mission<BR>
to reach out to all people with compassion and love, regardless of <BR>
social or economic status. Our desire is to share the love of God<BR>
with all people everywhere. We say, "Welcome to the Church of the<BR>
Nazarene -- Our Church Can Be Your Home."<BR>
