Welcome, Pastor John Peter, gives
A snap shot presentation of life&Ministry among
Urban & far corners of India.
Who is this: we are BENEDICT MINISTRY WORLD-BMW-INDIA, Faith based, Christ
centered, & Mission oriented charitable org found in 1998, with great emphasize
the timeless Gospel for groups of India & Asia; and welfare of the down trodden,
vulnerable children. The mission began with 25 people as a small husband/wife
home based ministry and growing in grace and truth. Now the mission consists of
5 large towns in the state of Andhra Pradesh , S. India . Each town consists of
a church plant of (2-3) congregations meet under rented thatched sheds to pray
and worship. The BMW-India serving urban, rural and hill tribal people and where
we are facing several problems.
What problems: it would be irresponsible to ignore some of the real problems
that the ministry faces. Information, both good and bad should lead us to pray
ever more intelligently and specifically to the one who can help in every
situation.
Keeping and teaching: one of the main problems is keeping and nurturing
believers. With no regular ministry it is difficult for individuals to be
properly taught the basics of the faith and grow in the knowledge of the Lord.
Financial sources: it is no over exaggeration to say that the financial
situation of the ministry is very bad & serious. The offerings raise in the
districts does not cover the basic expenditure. Each individual member is
expected to contribute a minimum sum each month. This is called the "membership
or ticket money" this method was first introduced, to meet the ministry's
general needs, and travel; at the moment a member who is working is expected to
pay a min Rs.50/-($1) a month, rest of 80% of non working members are free
attendees. Sadly many people assume this is the maximum contribution and monthly
giving per person seldom rises above this level regardless of personal income.
Sadly the method is so set in stone that it is unlikely that it will be changed
in the foreseeable future.
Problems in the society?:- there are many problems in society which have a
natural effect on the people where the BMW-India is active. Illiteracy,
de-hygiene, unemployment is dreadful, crime is rife and the HIV/AIDS (top 2nd
place in the world) pandemic continues apace. We as a God's servant one is
continually faced with those suffering the disappointment of unemployment, the
dejection and terror of victims of crime and the despair of the infected and
dying & hunger. For thought: Belonging to the body of Christ does not inoculate
one from the problems of the world. Please do pray, however for the Lords
protection and help to touch all in need.
Is there any thing positive: yes truly, we immediately struck by the warmth and
friendliness of the people. There is still a considerable interest in the Gospel
and in spiritual and biblical things. Religious freedom is high in this state
and Christians are respected much. As a servant of God, we are able to talk with
anyone in the villages and towns publicly & go into almost any home to share the
Word. What a glorious situation?
There has been a great opportunities to share the Gospel to children and youth.
The fields are certainly white unto harvest. Despite the problems and in the
midst of much heartache, there always moments of encouragement which help one
give thanks and remember who is indeed in control of all things. There are new
members and although many of them are young and female, we've seen groups men
start to attend in Church of thanks giving.
Present needs: 1.Church building at HQ.. 2. A low cost building for orphanage of
40 children boys & girls age 5 - 12. Also please send old cloths, note books,
toys for them. 3. A second hand van for multi-purpose use. 4. One computer.
Total budget is $40000/- approx; 8% of fund rose so far. Please donate for a
orphan child's education/for a servant of God. Please open your hearts and
pockets for us.
We are interesting to serve as the one among you in India for the glory of the
Lord; we trust that we can accomplish the great commission, if we go teamly for
India .and eager to see you visiting ours in India.
End note: I hope this has given you a snap shot of life in the Lambs mission-
India .But most of all, I hope it prompts you to remember and pray for the
mission here.
