Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: **WELCOME TO EDDIE MASON MINISTRIES** The day Eddie Mason walked down the aisle, he knew he was about to make the biggest mistake of his life, but the gown and the draw of crowd and the gleaming limousine beckoned his on towards matrimony. One year and two months later, eddie's blissful dreams ended in a failed marriage. In his newest book, The Truth About Sex (Pneuma Life, 1998), mason recounts his tale of how he was delivered from his self-destructive past to become the powerful messenger of God's truth through obedience to God's will and principles. In his book, mason admits it took years of getting out from under the sheets before he experienced God's freedom and ultimate emotional release. Sheets are layers of emotional baggage that come from past sexual experiences, notes mason. The name of his book means putting an end to ungodly sexual relationships. "There were some very strong things already wrong with me before I connected myself to that individual," says mason about his life before marriage. In his book, he recounts how he began experimenting sexually while a young teen. Although he was a virgin when he married, he still carried deep wounds from his past relationships. Fairytale idealism clouded mason's perspective towards marriage. "I went into the relationship after an exciting wedding and not the ministry of a marriage," he says. Like many brothers, he went into marriage with what he terms a "gold digger mentality" -- the expectation that the significant other would give him things he lacked, whether that be money or glamour or status. mason knew he had married a women outside of God's will and soon he would pay the price for his disobedience to God's plan for his life. His marriage was dismantling her public ministry as a preacher in the church. he went into a deep depression and sought out his pastor for wisdom and support. While at his pastor's house, Mason says he was overcome with a desire to take his own life. So he swallowed every pill in their medicine cabinet and left. Fortunately, the pastor's wife realized what Eddie had done and they both saved him from being run over by a semi as he walked back home. Soon after, he prayed for forgiveness. God told him to fulfill all of his marriage vows so that he could experience spiritual freedom. So he tried everything to honor his wife and serve the Lord. One day he got the crushing news that his wife was leaving him. Eddie could not believe he was being abandoned. Racked with emotional pain from his recent separation, he was unable to work and was reduced to living on welfare. His ministry unraveled. Eddie went from one bad relationship to another with women who did not respect him or serve the Lord. In 2000, three years after his marriage to her first wife, Eddie went through an emotional crisis. One evening, he blacked out. A deacon found him walking down the middle of the street in nothing but a T-shirt and jeans and no shoes in the middle of winter. he was taken to the hospital. Alone in a padded cell, Mason remembers banging his head repeatedly against the wall. "I couldn't talk," says Mason. "Just the inside of me was crying out." Eventually his mother paid someone to get Mason out of the hospital. For some 20 days, Mason lay in his mother's bed crying out. Then one night, God visited her. "I audibly heard the voice of the Lord calling my name," he says. Eddie saw the ceiling of his mother's bedroom open up and in a vision, he saw a hand clasping a spool of thread. The hand was tying one end of the thread to one mountain peak, and the other end of the thread to a different mountain peak. Then he saw himself naked on that thread looking down at the flames below him. The hand said, "Come to me." So Eddie walked towards it. As he walked he cried out in fear that he was falling. But the voice of the Lord spoke to him. He said, "As long as you keep your eyes on me, you shall never fall. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus." Instantly the power of God came upon him and he began speaking in tongues for several hours. God then proceeded to show Eddie his new destiny. "And it was during that time that he gave me an open vision of me ministering in front of thousands of people," Eddie recalls. "He said, 'This is your final destination. You're under the mandate of my hand, but with my mind. The minute you decide that you don't want to do what I've called you to do, I will give you back the mind you lost, but right now you are operating with my mind.' And from that point on, my ministry just took off." Although God healed his mind, Mason's trials were not over. The worst was yet to come. In 1985, Mason began struggling with anorexia. As he struggled to hold food down, Eddie went from a size 16 to a size 5. he dropped drastically from 160 to 114 pounds. he knew he needed another miracle from God. Otherwise within six months he would be dead. Mason had heard good things about a local 6,000-member church. One evening he visited that church and went to the altar for prayer. As one of the saints prayed over him, he was instantly released of his anorexia and his underlying prejudice against whites. After a lifetime of struggle, Mason knows he has found the answer to his past pain. "Every single day of my life I struggle to crucify my flesh," he writes. So what is the solution? "The bottom line to walking out any form of deliverance, whether it's sexual, whether it's emotional, is obedience to God. He knows the way that we take and when He has tried us in our obedience, when He has tested us to see if we are going to do exactly what He has called us to do, then we're going to come out as pure gold." Mason is currently an evangelist and prophet with his own ministry. he has also been a speaker at Bishop J.P Lucas Mens Empowerment Conference.
