Our Affiliation

We are affiliated with the Evangelical Community Church-Lutheran,Bishop Irl Gladfelter,O.C.R.,Prime Bishop. However our character since the founding in 1994 has been non-denominational. We are "high church" in our liturgies incorporating customs and practices from churches Eastern and Western. We profess that not only salvation but sanctification/deification(theosis)is brought about grace appropriated by faith. However we do not let this conviction bar our ecumencical attitudes towards Orthodox,Anglicans,Methodists and others of an Arminian bent.Doctrine is not the main issue with us. The real issue is Spirituality and spiritual development of all God's people

Our Monastic Life

Just as Cathusians before us,we appreciate and study all the great Rules and texts of the monastic tradition. Our Constitutions are growing based on them and our life-experience.We should be seen as a colony of hermits-not a community. Altho we share some Liturgies and conferences together,we live mostly in our own cells and surrounding areas with no interaction. All hermits must be self-supporting even if they have to get part-time work locally. We welcome couples to apply but no children. We live rustically. Electricity is by generators, propane, kerosene. The county provides no sewer facilities so we use septic alternatives.Only telephone lines are available.Members of oriental,non-christian traditions are welcome to share our life an to share their insights with us. There are no vows nor do we intend to establish an Order in perpetuity.Above all the ancient monastic elements of silence/solitude and ongoing prayer characterises our lives. For more:http://geocities.com/hermit3712
