We meet each Sunday morning from November through March in the Tropic Star Ballroom and at 9:30 have a worship srvice which is directed to this over 55 R V community. Our service is not deominational in nature, is Christian in its content and is rich in it's music. At the height of our 2003-4 season we had 625 in worship and an 80 voice choir. Most of our worshippers belong to local churches in their home commuities...but they worship with us in this park when they come south as "Snow Birds" but we prefer to call them "Witer Texans". During the 2003-4 season the residents of this park constructed a Tropic Star Memorial Chapel which serves as a spiritual center for the resort. I is used for special services, Bible Studies and religious gatherings, as well as a site for prayer and meditation...The beautiful stained glass windows, the comfortable seating for about 65 persons, and the traditional southwest style of archetecture make this chapel a welcome additon to our resort.
It is the purpose of the Worship Committee to provide a biblically based, Christian in content, worship experience each Sunday for the residents and visitors of Tropic Star RV Resprt....To this end we employ a Park Miister, who at the present time is Dr Robert J. Stemme...It is his resposibility to coduct Sunday worship, visit those who are ill or hospitalized, function as Park Chaplain for couselling needs, to conduct weddigs, funerals, and to attend to the spiritual needs of the parks residents and visitors by being present and visble in the various park activities.
