Cleveland Praise Ministry is an ecumenical group of young people and adults
that have joined together to serve the Lord through the presentation
of Clowning, Puppetry, Music, sign language and mime. Our skits are designed
to provide a meaningful worship experience for
people of all ages.
Since the summer of 1985, CPM has traveled for one week each year
sharing our ministry with people in about 15 states. One of the highlights
of each trip is making new friends, as we usually spend nights in the homes of
people from the host churches. During the fall, winter and spring, CPM is
always busy performing throughout Ohio, working on new material, and teaching
at Performing Arts workshops.
Muppet-type animal and people puppets are used behind a large, tiered stage.
This way, they are attractive and quite visible, even in a large area. Just as
the person working inside the puppet brings it to life, the Holy Spirit within us
fills the void in our lives.
Christian clowning is the medium through which we present skits, scripture, and other
stories demonstrating Christ's love in a simplistic way. The nature of a clown, like a
Christian, is to take a chance by sharing and serving others. The world around us does not
generally take chances on others, while the clown views life from a totally different
perspective. A symbol of joy who celebrates life, the Christian clown finds happiness
in simple things: a child's giggle, the twinkle in a senior's eyes, the growth of a flower
or a ray of God's sunshine.
Sign language and mime are a world beyond words. It is the world of silence and the language
of the heart. CPM combines sign language and mime with music to present another unique message.
Together, let us laugh and smile and relax and listen as we comfort those in sorrow; share the
gladness of those in joy.
Thank you for letting us share with you. God bless you real good!
