Community Outreach Objectives:
To operate an Information/Referral Service for indigent persons with social, socio-legal and legal problems of various types. To perform "rescue" missions for the disadvantaged, consisting of emergency food and clothing on a limited basis and referrals for short and long-term housing. To establish a source of direction for young people, by seeking to discover social programs, employment training, educational grants/scholarships, etc., that may be available for less fortunate youth. Background experience: Ten years with the Legal Services Foundation, working as a paralegal (lay advocate) in the Public Benefits Units, assisting poor and disabled persons obtain various benefits, such as food stamps, Aid to Families With Dependent Children (AFDC), Social Security and SSI, Veterans disability benefits and so forth. in the
