The Bedford Jail Ministry is a 501c(3) ministry directed by a Board of Directors and is committed to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ to inmates, officers and their families. The ministry included bible studies, GED training, life skills training (soon to be avialable on video), and the distribution of bibles, tracts, and greeting cards for the inmates to send to relatives and friends. The Bedford Jail Ministry continues to minister to the inmate through the "Back to Life from Heaps of Rubble" (Nehemiah 4:3). Inmates in this program receive discipleship training directed by lay volunteers and pastors an average of 2 times a day for a period of six months. The men live together and are accountable to each other. The START (Studying Truth And Remaining True)is currently in the development stages where inmates will be transitioned into a halfway house and slowly returned to becoming a productive part of society. This program is scheduled to be ready for introduction in Spring, 2000.
