The passage in Matthew 21 that tells us about Jesus driving
the moneychangers from the temple is a familiar passage. Jesus
tells us that we are called to be a house of prayer. However, He
also shows us that we have the potential to be a den of thieves.
What makes us a den of thieves? What makes us a house of prayer?
In Matthew 21 we see God's anger toward the situations that
robbed His people of a sacred encounter with Him. God is still
distraught today toward anything that robs Him of a vibrant,
sacred encounter with His people.
Song of Songs 2:14 (NLT) says:
"My dove is hiding behind some rocks
behind an outcrop on the cliff;
let me hear your voice.
For your voice is pleasant,
and you are lovely."
We are invited to a sublime relationship with the most incre-
dible Person in the universe. We must resist the pressures that
make us into a den of thieves. There is Someone standing by in
every aspect of our day Who is waiting to hear our voice. He has
much to say to us. Will we respond to His invitation?
John 14:23 (AMP) says:
"If a person [really] loves Me, he will keep My word
- obey My reaching; and My Father will love him, and we will come
to him and make Our home (abode, special dwelling place) with him."
