Serving People, Touching Nations

We are a ministry of Charleston Baptist Associaton located in Charleston, SC USA. Our ministry cares for the spiritual, physical and social needs of seafarers, port personnel and truckers in the Ports of Charleston and North Charleston.
We operate a Seafarer's Center at 1179 Remount Rd. in North Charleston. The center provides recreation, telephone, clothes closet, free snacks, TV and video. We distribute Bibles and New Testaments in many languages so seafarers can know God personally.

Meet our Staff

Tim Rice has served as Director since 1993. He is an appointed missionary of the North American Mission Board, SBC
Joe Serra serves as Assistant Director and Interpreter. Since 1979 Joe and his wife Rosa have faithfully served at the center. With his knowledge of seven languages Joe is a valuable member of the staff.
Randy Hayden, from Owensboro, KY is our newest volunteer chaplain.
Charles Ackerman serves part time as ship visitor and van driver.
Anne Paul mangages the affairs at the center, making sure it is clean and presentable and also works with our many volunteers.

** WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! **

Volunteers are the life line of our ministry. We need short term and long term volunteers to serve in different ways. Some of you may want to serve at the center, meeting international sailors, learning about their world and helping them with their problems.
* Some volunteers serve as Chaplains- visiting ships in the harbor and driving crews to shopping centers.
* We need volunteers with foreign language experience. This is by no means a requirement for volunteer service, but it helps.
