Higher Ground formed by four gospel vocalists from Huntsville, Ontario Canada, continues to impress audiences with strong vocal ability and a passion to deliver a message through gospel music. With an excellent display of tight four part harmony and a wide variety of musical style, this new mixed gospel quartet is already stirring much interest in the Canadian gospel music community. This Group's strength aside from their obvious love for the Lord, is each member's individual success and vocal ability. Constantly working on an impressive display of original material, Higher Ground promises to deliver their very best to every audience.
CHRISTINA DEGAZIO
Christina, a graduate of Humber College's music program has been performing pofessionally since the age of thirteen. Her strong keyboard and soothing vocal ability combine to become part of the essential mix that makes Higher Ground what it is. Christina has performed at such high caliber venues as The Toronto Westin and Royal York Hotel. Her portfolio also includes a twelve year run at the world class Deerhurst Resort where she performed nightly. She released two solo projects in the 1980's which were released across Canada and has made various television and video appearances. Christina's ability to write music has proven to be a God given talent and a major attribute to Higher Ground's success.
MIKE DEGAZIO
Mike Degazio, a CCMA (Candian Country Music Assoc.) and Juno award nominee carries a strong lead vocal with an impressive range. His country music roots have developed into a style rarely seen in secular or gospel music. Also a writer, Mike's abilities have delivered Top 20 country hits on various occasions. Mike has appeare on video, tv and radio across Canada in both interview and artist features such as The Tommy Hunter Show, Outlaws and Heros and Global's Entertainment desk, just to name a few. Mike is no stranger to the recording industry. Aside from a duo project released with A&M records, Mike has released two solo projects. Now basing his talents on new found faith, Mike continues to deliver his very best to the group's overall sound.
JOHN HISEY
The son of a Baptist preacher, John Hisey has been singing gospel music for over fourty years. John's rich bass vocal is not only impressive, it's guaranteed to make your socks roll up and down! Born in Tillsonburg Ontario, John was raised in a musical Christian home. He Sang bass as far back as the early fifties with the Hisey Male Quartet, travelling mainly in Ontario. John has blessed audiences from the stage with such groups as The Outreach Quartet, Write Singers, The Torchmen and The Proclaimers Quartet. He has appeared three times at the Nashville Quartet Convention in Nashville and has taken part in some nine recording projects in both Canada and the United States. John's Southern Gospel experience is proving to be a valuable asset to the overall sound of the group.
STEVEN MULLINS
At 28 Steven may be among the younger generation of Canadian gospel music but is no stranger to it. Born in Smith's Falls Ontario, Steven often found himself surrounded with the sweet harmonies of southern gospel music. His rich barritone voice was an all important component of the Sonshine City Quartet of Barrie Ontario which toured much of Canada and the United States in the Early 1990's. Steven has been involved in three recording projects including his recent solo CD titled "I Just Want To Be Where You Are", recorded in Nashville and released in early 1997. Steven has appeared on various television and radio broadcasts and continues a successful solo ministry in Canada and the United States.
Together, Higher Ground continues to bless hearts and ears with a fresh new sound of which only such talented atrists are capable. With an ear for perfection and a heart for God, each member strives to perform their very best hoping to make a difference in the music industry.
