LOWRDERS FOR CHRIST

Redeemed Car Ministries has been turning heads for more than 2 years now. Jimmy Rodriquez, ministry founder, and Oliver Sherman, president, are unified in their vision for reaching the hurting youth of Phoenix and the world. Although seeing a lowrider in almost any city nowadays is common, this is the first known Christian Lowrider Ministry. Note that this is a Ministry, not a club.
Redeemed has over thirty members and fifteen+ vehicles ranging from classics to 4x4's. Although, with the majority being your standard lowrider, this ministry appeals mostly to the younger generations and gangsters.
"This is really where we see the most impact happening," says Ministry Founder Jimmy Rodriguez. "We understand that the younger the person, the more influenced they are by their surroundings. That is why we target the kids in junior high and elementary schools."
As is common with other lowrider clubs, Redeemed's members are for the most part Hispanic. Says Oliver Sherman of the cultural diversity within Redeemed, "It's a priviledge, as a black man, to be elected to such a postion as president of something with as much potential as I see here. We have the ability to literally touch every race of people on Earth. Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Puerto Ricans, Native Americans, you name it. Every month we have as many as five persons approach us with a desire to join. Of course, we have to screen each one carefully." Not only does Redeemed have such a collage of races, but the faith backgrounds of our members is equally abundant. Pentecostal, Baptist, Lutheran, and other Charismatic faiths are prevelant within.
Discipleship is the main focus of individual studies for Redeemed members. "Without proper teaching, we have no chance of doing the Lord's work. If we can't lead someone to Christ, our labors are in vain." (Daniel Carter, Ministry Point Man/Advertising Secretary)
