Desert Ministries is a...
non-profit organization that reaches into long-term care facilities, such as nursing homes, and care facilities for the mentally handicapped. We address the issues of abandonment, loneliness, isolation, and many other issues associated with life in an institution. We also teach inservices on spirituality to the staff with the hopes that we can give them the resources and tools they need to cope in this enviroment. The families of these people also face very difficult decisions and issues. Our caregivers support groups provide a safe place for them to discover supportive affirmation, and prayer. Our weekly radio program provides a public forum to educate the public, and to provide a listening ear for nursing home residents.
