â€)"We've Come This Far By Faith" Morris Memorial (Morris Temple / Milwaukee Temple) was founded by Bishop W. L. & Ava Morris in March 1942. Bishop & Mother Morris served the people of God for over 30 years. During which time they led the membership in building two churches. The Morris Temple COGIC on 1441 N. 7th Street; which was the headquarters for Southeast Wisconsin, 1st Jurisdiction for over 25 years. Morris Memorial was the second church built at 1400 W. Locust. Bishop Morris passed prior to the completion of the second church and his Assistant Pastor carried the mantel.
Elder Garnett Herron who had joined the church in the early 40's and served as deacon, driver, janitor etc picked up the mantel and completed Bishop's vision. The membership remained on Locust street for over 20 years. The congreation was forced to move after the Lord miraculously spared us from destruction due to a gas leak by a neighboring service station. " Just Want My Ways To Please The Lord" In the early 90's Elder Herron led the congregation to the current location 9619 W. Lisbon Ave. Sadly, the Lord called a great pioneer home. Elder Herron lived a well life and made a huge impact in the body of Christ.
December 29th, 2006, Elder Micaiah J. Young Sr. was appointed pastor of Morris Memorial C.O.G.I.C.. Over the years, Morris' congregation had increased and out grew West Lisbon Street. Soon after, Morris Memorial adopted a new name. Morris Cathedral Life Center Church of God in Christ was the name. It was made to both pay homage to the Founder, Bishop W.L. Morris, and to highlight the mission of the church. The church moved to a new & bigger loction due to congregation increase (2207 West Center Street).
Never the less, March 2015, after serving almost 10 years, Elder Young resigned as pastor of Morris. Yet the Lord continues to keep and bless us. We relocated back to our last beautiful sanctuary. It has unlimited space for worship and training. June of 2015, our Jurisdictional leader, Bishop Sedgwick Daniels, Senior Pastor of Holy Redeemer, was appointed pastor. Now, the name of the church is "Morris Cathedral Church of God in Christ" as we began a new journey. The pastor and congregation contend for the faith that was delivered to the early church. Yes, we have come this far by faith and we shall have faith in God, for there is nothing to hard for God!"
