Triune Church of God in Christ had its' humble beginning on October 2, 1972 in Bayou Sale, Louisiana, in the living room of Brother Willie and Mother Sidonia C. Green. In spite of the location and building, services were held every Tuesday evening, Friday evening, Sunday morning and Sunday evening. Sunday School was divided into age categories and classes were held in the kitchen, dining room, a bedroom, the living room and on the front porch when weather permitted. Brother Green's 1969 green Dodge Palora made pick-ups for each service at neighboring communities (Garrett Plantation and Johnson Plantation). The Lord blessed this automobile so that it stayed in great condition and was sold at his demise in January 1980 at Mother Green's request. In 1975, the church merged with Garden City COGIC at the death of Pastor Fred Lewis. In 1980, the Lord blessed the family to move to 1723 Willow Street in Franklin, Louisiana. The destruction of hurricane Rita left the family homeless. On June 16, 2006, we were blessed to purchase 3.1 acres of land - 1118 Barrow Street in Franklin. Presently the family is renting at 112 Blakesley Street in Franklin as we await the perfect time and necessary funds to bring to fruition the plans we have on paper.
The church will honor Pastor Charles and First Lady Nellie Watkins for 37 years of dedicated service to the Triune family. Service will be held on October 11, 2009 at 3:00 P.M.
