Father Elias Dempsey Smith Founder of Triumph The Church And Kingdom Of God In Christ Rev. Elias Dempsey Smith was a faithful minister of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. He had fulfilled the aspirations of its curriculum when God called him out of the AME Church into the light of Triumph in the year of 1897. As God continued to reveal more and more truths to him about the everlasting Gospel message and life for the soul and body, he had a vision... In his meditation he saw an eagle, a lion, and a brown skin damsel prepared as a bride adorned for her husband, whom he married. The Spirit of God told him that the figures he beheld were symbolic and they each had a Divine message. God further revealed the characteristics of each symbol to him as follows: God told Father Smith the truth revealed to him would be like an eagle, higher than any religion or sectarian church thought, and that nothing would ever stand between a mind in tune with God and the illumination of Divine substance. God said, it would be strong like the strength referred to in the lion, mastering every previous limited idea of God by wisdom and power and not carnal ordinances. The brown skin damsel prepared and adorned as a bride, whom he married, was a type of the Church and the entire black world with the ability to birth all of its needs. Triumph church was organized January 20, 1902. The doors were opened to the world on January 20, 1904, at 12:00 High Noon. The first member of the church was Mrs. Hanna Peters. The first National Conference was held in Birmingham, AL in July 1915, and the first International Conference was held in Indianapolis, IN in July 1919. In January of 1920, Father Elias D. Smith went to Addis Ababa, Abyssinia, Africa where he was given the reception of a king, and the day after attending a banquet he died and was buried on Mont Tach La Hammont. His death produced a dramatic change in Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God in Christ. Our beloved Founder was truly a powerful man of God, and he executed the triumphant vision God gave him to many during his lifetime. He was a holy man of God that went about spreading the message of life for the soul and body to many who were in hope of life eternal. In light of this fact, the implementation and present realities of this great overcoming body rests upon us today, as we continue to preach and teach the everlasting Gospel of Christ to a dying world. We celebrate an annual Founder's Day Consecration January 1st - 20th every year with prayer and fasting on these days throughout the Church and Kingdom. A Founder's Day Celebration service is held every year on January 20th, with all day services and a feast throughout Triumph The Church And Kingdom Of God In Christ. National Commemoration Services in memory of our Founder are also held once per year. Triumph The Church And Kingdom Of God In Christ has a National Historical Landmark located at 9200 Miles Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio that was founded and established as an Historical Landmark by Bishop C. H. Whittiker, Sr., a man of God who was a sure visionary and was not afraid to step out on faith in God. Upon moving from California to Cleveland where the people were at that time gathering in a house for services , Bishop Whittiker went to Ohio with a vision from God and diligently labored to advance God's everlasting kingdom on behalf of this Triumph Church. In just a few months with the help of God, his wife Mother Rocelia Whittiker, and the saints there, they marched from that house where they were gathering to the new ediface located on Miles Avenue in 1978. A few years later the mortgage was burned under the leadership of Bishop C. H. Whittiker, Sr. in 1986. The Historical Landmark was once occupied by the late U.S. President James Garfield and is now owned by Triumph The Church And Kingdom Of God In Christ. Consequently, Bishop Charles & Mother Rocelia Whittiker are the parents of Elder Darlene Harris. Triumph The Church And Kingdom Of God In Christ also has several historical museums and libraries within several of our local churches, and two major housing complexes in Flint, Michigan: Slidell and Taylor Lake Manor which is a Senior Citizen complex that houses several senior citizens. The complexes were founded and established by Mother Ruby Taylor, one who was truly a woman with a vision from God and who labored much to advance this Triumph Church. The Senior Citizen complexes are well noted in the state of Michigan. Today under the leadership of our present Chief Apostle Willie R. Malcom and a quorum of Bishops, Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God in Christ is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization and all contributions made to this organization are tax deductible in accordance with IRS guidelines. We are chartered in the District of Columbia, Department of Consumer Affairs (file #996). We are an international organization with churches located in 36 states and Liberia, West Africa where we have a Mission and school. Our present Chief Apostle is one with the vision to take this Triumph Church to it's next level and fulfilling God's purpose in the earth.
Triumphant Greeting: "All Hail!" In Triumph The Church And Kingdom Of God In Christ we use the triumphant greeting of "All Hail" to express to the world the same greeting Christ used right after His resurrection. It is a triumphant greeting because it was at that time Christ triumphed over death, hell and the grave! Christ rose with resurrection POWER over every enemy, force or foe with all power in His hands in heaven and earth. When He met His disciples along the way He used the triumphant greeting of "All Hail!" (Matthew 28:9). It is our goal to overcome, subdue and conquer everything not like Christ, to conquer death, hell and the grave, and to rise with the resurrection power of Christ in the total man of spirit, soul and body. (I Corinthians 15:55) - O death where is thy sting? O grave where is thy victory? Triumph Church Flag: Black with white letters with the name Triumph The Church And Kingdom Of God In Christ and seven stars. Church colors: Our church colors are Black and White across the world map.
