North Park Community Church

New Christian Church in Carmel, Indiana

North Park Church started in 2002 with the vision of providing an environment where people can seek and worship God in safety and authenticity, connect with others who wish to grow in faith, and reach out to the community in relevant, loving ways.

Jim and Sheryl Martenson, the founders of North Park Church, moved to Carmel in 2000 along with their three children, Brenden, Hayley and Whitney. Jim was ordained for ministry in 1989, and served as youth pastor, school teacher and coach at two independent churches and schools in Massachusetts and Ohio.

Since its inception, North Park has embraced our unchurched community in creative and relevant ways. This is important because it has always been our desire for the church to grow in numbers of people who previously did not have a church home. Today, almost 60% of North Park's attendees were previously not attending church anywhere.

Our vision is clear: We want to seek and worship God, connect and commit to one another as we grow in faith, and reach out to our community with love and hope. Put simply, on weekends we REACH UP, in LifeGroups we REACH IN, and in the community we REACH OUT.

North Park is growing, but we have a lot more growing to do and we're confident that this faith community will prevail with the mission God has called us to do on Indy's North side.
