Don't Hate! Celebrate & Duplicate in 2008!
We are excited to celebrate the Wonderful & Mighty Works of our Lord Jesus Christ in this young Millineum. God has giving us a "New Church" to minister and witness to the greater urban center of Jersey City and its surrounding communities. This was the vision & mission of our founder Rev. Kelmo Porter, Sr. in 1929 and the legacy continues under his son's leadership Rev. Nathaniel Porter, Sr. "So let us enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations".
"The Church Were No Stranger Feels Strange"
"By this all men shall know that ye are my disciples; if ye have love one to another". Love has been the cornerstone of 'Gospel Temple' now Porter Memorial COGIC from its grass roots beginning. No one epitomize love more then our founding First Lady Mother Gladys Porter. She believed that you can give without loving; but, you can't love without giving. "My children let us be doers of the word and not hearers only. Faith without works is dead. Therefore, Love without works is dead. Let us prove our Love in deed and not in words only. Prove it! Prove it! Prove it!" Mother G. fed all who where hungry and gave drink to all those who thirst. She visited the sick & shut in, even cleaned their homes. She distribute clothes to the needy and shopped for those who could not. She smiled, kissed, and hugged all who would enter the church and do the same as she walk the city streets. She would say there are no strangers just friends and family we haven't met yet for we all are God's children. This is the legacy that has been established! This is Our Story! This is Our Song!
