Calvary Fundamental Baptist Church 14 Ipil Street, Saint Anthony Subdivision, San Juan, Cainta, Rizal, PHILIPPINES 1900 Home of CFBC Academy OUR NEW MINISTRY! Hope through Empowerment and Literacy Program CFBC recently started a community-based ministry called Give H.E.L.P., a ministry which was born from a burden for the educational plight of many underprivileged children in our nearby communities. Using our church academy's excellent reading curriculum and program for pre-school to address this problem, we are trying as best we can to break the barriers of financial constraint and allow these children to use these materials for free. OUR GOAL The primary goal of this program is to help boys and girls become literate in both English and Filipino. As a church, our ultimate goal is to use this program as a means to share the gospel and God's truths through the Bible lessons and character-building stories integrated in the curriculum, eventually reaching out to the families of the students as well. OUR VISION To see the church as a major contributor in educational advancement in the community and as a responsible and concerned group of individuals who are faithfully proclaiming the gospel through their words, works, and testimony. INITIAL PROJECT For the initial project, we offered a 4-month reading course (November to March) to 10 children from Simona, a populated sitio in Barangay San Isidro, Taytay, Rizal which has only one public elementary school and no private school. Ø COST CONSIDERATIONS: (budget cost under FUNDING NEEDS) · School supplies: bags, cases, pencils, crayons, envelopes, pad papers, erasers, glue, rulers, etc. · 3 modules in English and 3 in Filipino (reproduction) · Christmas and graduation programs (food, gifts, certificates, and medals) · Educational field trip · Developmental fee (we need additional chairs, tables & for printing materials) Ø STUDENTS: Children aged 6-8 years old who are out of school either due to financial constraints or simply due to difficulty in coping (especially repeaters), whatever the cause of the literacy problem is. Ø REQUIREMENTS: Parents will be required to attend regular meetings (as a means for the church to be able to minister to them as well). FUTURE PLANS 1. Give HELP will eventually venture into offering free education (regular school) to underprivileged children. We are praying that this will materialize by June 2008. 2. To reach out to and empower the student's families as well, we are also planning to conduct livelihood trainings and seminars to help alleviate their poverty. FUNDING NEEDS At present, we are still in the process of trying to complete the funds needed for the initial 4-month project (in Simona). * We have prayed for 10 but God gave us 12 students Simona Project Budget: Estimated cost per child is =P= 2,000.00 or $46.60 Since there are 12 enrolled the needed finances amounts =P= 24,000.00 or $599.20 OUR APPEAL We hope that you would consider joining us in this opportunity of helping these underprivileged children, hoping to influence and impact them mentally, emotionally, socially, and more importantly, spiritually. Twenty Four thousand pesos to many private schools is already equivalent to one school year's tuition fee, but with this project you will be able to help usher 12 kids to a great learning adventure. We pray that you will become one of our partners in this lifechanging endeavor.
