About us

The Villa Chapel is a non-denominational evangelical church located in the lower level of the historic Gustav Oberlander mansion. This mansion is now known as the Villa St Elizabeth, a personal care home at 1201 Museum Road, Reading, PA 19611. Jean Bready, the present owner, had long dreamed of having a church in the beautiful sanctuary that had been created when the property was owned by the Catholic Church. For many years ministers or laymen from various congregations have held Sunday services for the residents, albeit informally and erratically. Pastor Rich Colvin and his wife, Denise accepted the call to follow Gods leading tp begin this new church fellowship. January 1, 2006 was the Villa Chapels first service. The Villa Chapel is located at 1201 Museum Road, Reading PA 19611 The sanctuary is located in the lower level of The Villa St Elizabeth. As you enter the front door turn right down the stairs. The Villa Gift Shoppe will be right in front of you. Turn left through the ballroom to the doorway on your right. Turn left down the hallway to the chapel.

Pastor's Letter

Many years ago God opened up an opportunity for me to minister to seniors. My good friend Pastor Ted Stricker who had been involved in the senior ministry asked me to deliver a Christmas message at one of the assisted living homes where he ministered. It was kind of like that saying, "love at first sight", I knew this was my calling. As time went by i got more and more involved in this rewarding ministry. Before long there was five or six different places where I was called to minister. Many Sundays I held services in several different places after attending Sunday school and worship service at my home church. God kept opening door after door for me. I lost my job of thirty-five years and God opened the door to a part-time job as assistant manager of a senior center. Then in January of 2006 I was rewarded with the icing on the cake. My wife Denise and I were asked to start this wonderful little church at The Villa Chapel. We are believing that the Lord has a bigger and better plan for us and in the near future we will have multiple services, Sunday school, youth groups and all the servant leaders required to implement this wonderful move of His Spirit. Come see what God is doing and join Him in it. Pastor Rich Colvin Please pray for our nation. We live in the greatest country in the world. We are great because God is great, and this nation was born on His goodness and His Holy Word. Unfortunately we have drifted away from our Judeo/Christian values and forgotten that He must be first in all things. Pray for your city, your state, and the United States of America. Pray for our president and all of our federal, state, and local leaders. Finally never forget the words of David in Psalms 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, those who love you will be blessed.
