About THE COMMUNION CHURCH. Brief History DAVID BENENOCH the founding pastor and spiritual leader of THE COMMUNION CHURCH, worldwide, was called of God to the Christian Ministry and formally inaugurated through prayers and the laying on of hands of the Presbytery on 3rd of September 1988. Starting what was then called The Communion Ministry alone, he then through evangelism and personal witnessing, gathered a group of men and women to whom he shared his vision of the ministry, who themselves believed in the vision and the Visionier, decided to become part of the Communion Ministry. By Sunday December 31st, 1989 seventeen (17) people had gathered and with them the church, then known as Communion Chapel Churches was inaugurated. In June 1990, THE COMMUNION CHURCH was formally registered and recognized by the Nigerian government as a Pentecostal, denominational church and a certificate of registration as a Christian non-profit religious organization was issued to her. THE COMMUNION CHURCH has since been registered in several other countries around the world where she is operating. Also in 1998, THE COMMUNION CHURCH came into a working relationship with the New Zion Christian Church, in Houston, Texas. THE COMMUNION CHURCH acts and serves as the African Missions Agency of the New Zion Christian Church. What began with seventeen faithful men and women in 1989, has today grown to be over 20, 000 membership around the nations of the world. THE COMMUNION CHURCH is located in over 10 Nations around the world and with 30 church locations in those nations. Our International Headquarters is in Festac Town, Lagos Nigeria, from where the activities of the church around the world are being directed. The Headquarter Church in Festac Town has well over 3,867 active members. The Church continues to grow daily. Spiritual Leadership: The spiritual leader of THE COMMUNION CHURCH, worldwide is DAVID BENENOCH, who is the founder and current Presiding Bishop of the church. VISION OF THE COMMUNION CHURCH The vision of the church is three-fold. And they are: Communion -- teaching, preaching and demonstrating through lifestyle and conduct, enduring and effective relationship with God and fellowship with the saints; Prayers -- teaching, preaching and raising a generation of men and women who can pray and maintain their place of dominion and godly authority in the realm of the Spirit; and World Missions -- teaching, preaching and discipling the nations, through church planting, strategic leadership training, prayer missions invasion initiatives, and soul winning crusades. We are presently heavily involved with the grossly unevangelized and unreached French-speaking Nations of Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in the West African sub-region. The Mission of THE COMMUNION CHURCH Our mission is: To raise a new generation of men and women that come into a lasting communion relationship with God; To build a spiritual nation of men and women given and addicted to the cause of prayers and spiritual warfare; To ensure the complete deliverance of all men from the powers of darkness and the activities of demon spirits; To take the ministry God has given us to every nation and continent beginning with Africa. NOW LETS TALK ABOUT FAITH Four Steps to Faith Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). As a faith teacher, for years I've taught faith with the following definition. "Faith is believing God will do what He said He would do." As the years passed, I realized that faith is not believing, but faith has believed. So I revised my definition to be: "Faith is believing that God has done what He said He would do and everything you say and do is based upon that belief." Teaching something difficult is made easier with a simple definition. Likewise, I discovered that something simple can be complicated by making the definition too complicated. Even though my definition was accurate, I decided to make it easier to understand. So here it is. Faith is: Hear the Word, Believe the Word, Speak the Word, and Do the Word. 1.Hear the Word Romans 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing. Hearing is the first step, but not the only step. Without knowledge, we perish because without knowledge, we do not know what to believe. Hearing the Word brings the Word of God into the realm of the soul (the mind) so that we can decide what to do with it. 2. Believe the Word Once the Word is in our mind, we must decide what to do with it. Believing is the result of a decision. You decide what you are going to believe and what you are going to reject. The choice is yours. What you decide to believe sets the pattern of what you say. 3. Speak the Word Second Timothy 1:13 says, "Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus." You will develop a pattern of words determined by what you have decided you believe and what has developed in your heart as a result of that belief. Jesus said out of the abundance of your heart your mouth will speak. 4. Do the Word Faith without action is not living faith. James 2:26 says, "For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." We must act on what we believe and we must daily reinforce that belief by renewing our minds with the Word. Through the daily hearing and believing of the Word, our words and actions will be more accurate. Summary Faith is important. Without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). Through faith we are saved (Ephesians 2:8). Anything that is not from faith is sin (Romans 14:23). Faith moves mountains and activates our prayers. Faith is vitally important in our lives. All that we do must be based on the God kind of faith. Hear the Word, believe the Word, speak the Word, and do the Word and you will please God.
