We are a Low Church in the African Anglican tradition (majority of us are Nigerians as well as other Africans, Black Americans, Caribbeans and Hispanics) and we are a low Church because of the simplicity of our Worship patterns and liturgy. We still use the 128 BCP with only the Senior Pastor as the clergy who wear vestments during our Holy Communion Servicies. We incorporate other elements such as informal praise and worship music; African Worship Dance and Hand Clapping; Choruses and drums. As a "Low" congregation, we tend towards a more "traditional Protestant" outlook. As a Low Church congregation, the Spoken Eucharist is emphasized.
We affirm the historic Christian teaching that marriage is between a man and a woman and that others not called to marriage should remain celibate. We do not engage in the current controversy and we have room for sexual politics in our Congregation. Therefore, we make no provision even for a celibate person of homosexual orientation to be eligible for ordination and ministry, even if the person has entered into a civil same-sex partnership. To remain blameless we believe that the Church should reflect the present assumptions of society that all close relationships may not necessarily include sexual activity yet possess inordinate potential and appearances.
