ABOUT OUR CONGREGATION AND DOCTRINES AND PRACTICE

ABOUT OUR CONGREGATION We number somewhere just over 30, We had assemblies in excess of 100 when we were meeting in the northern part of Nigeria before the Jihad war that ensured between muslims and christians, which resulted in the distruction of our church building and injuries. so we had to leave the north to the east were we now meet, but some members went to different part of nigeria were they meet. we were meeting and worshipping in a brothers one room apartment, but we now have a small room we pay monthly which is not stillenough for us. : OUR DOCTRINES AND PRACTICES Our doctrine & practice are both according to New Testament commands and examples. We strive (and I use that word deliberately) to abide by these practices as much as possible. We observe The Lords Supper every Sunday morning, usually after the sermon. We sing without ANY instrument of music, as the early church did and as is commanded by Paul in the Books of Ephesians & Colossians; as Jesus & His disciples did the night He was betrayed. We baptize for the remission (forgiveness) of sins, in the name of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit, as Jesus commanded. We have an hour of Bible study before the regular service, and we have an hour of Bible study every Wednesday night as well. We have Bible Classes for ALL ages and an attended Nursery for infants so the parents can attend all services without having to attend to their child or children. We also organise special bible classes for all the teenagers : HOW ONE IS SAVED We teach & preach that one is saved according to New Testament commands & examples: Hear, Believe, Repent, Confess Jesus as Lord, and baptized, as stated above. We do not believe nor advocate "Infant baptism" for many reasons: 1). Infants cannot understand what is commanded of those who want to be saved. 2). Infants are not born with sin in them. 3). Sprinkling or Pouring is NOT Baptism. These two words come from the Greek word RONTIZO, which means to "Sprinkle or Pour", and Baptize means to Immerse, Dip or Plunge-under. : WHAT OUR ASSEMBLIES ARE LIKE Our assemblies are pretty well like what I have already explained. All married adults have their Bible Classes; Single adults have their Bible Classes, if they wish to attend them, but they are not forced, as NO ONE is made to attend any Class if they do not wish to. The teenagers have their classes, ages vary and there are separate classes for different age brackets. Pre-Teens also have their Bible Class, and even children one year & older have their own Bible Class. All Bible Classes are taught by Christian men & women, depending on the Class, age bracket, etc. Some men prefer that a lady teach young children, while some women will not teach teenagers nor young adults, because of the teachings of the Scriptures. : FALSE DOCTRINES THAT WE ARE FIGHTING AGAINST USING THE WORD We have just about as much false teaching around us as anywhere in the world. Denomination churches teach many & different so called "Gospels". Some teach that "Once saved - always saved". Some teach "saved by grace - not by works", and they consider BAPTISM as "work". Most teach that baptism is NOT necessary to be saved. Some teach that "baptism" is sprinkling or pouring of water over the head of the candidate, regardless their age. The Catholics and others who sprang from that church, still teach & practice "Infant baptism". (see #4 above). All denominations practice, using mechanical instruments in their worship. The Holiness Church is the only Denomination that I know of that baptizes for the forgiveness of sins, but only "In the name of Jesus". They say that our practice, baptizing in the name of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit, is too confusing to the candidate. But they go beyond New Testament teaching and use instruments of music. What those who use these instruments fail to realize is that when they use Old Testament examples, such as David, to justify the use of them, they have fallen from grace, according to Paul in Galatians 5:4. And, by "going beyond" New Testament teaching, they fall under what the apostle John said in 2 John 9.

APPEAL, THOROUGH OUTLINE OF OUR BUDGET

BELOW IS AN APPEAL LETTER AND THOROUGH OUTLINE OF OUR CONGREGATIONS MONTHLY BUDGET AND PROPOSED PROJECTS Dear Brothers in christ, Greetings in christ name, how are you and the work of the lord, hope the congregations there are growing in spirit and truth, we are fine and we are doing well.Iam writing on behalf of the ogbor hill church of christ,Abia state nigeria. I am the preacher there, I was preaching at Badarawa close church of christ kaduna, that is the church you saw at that directory, we had to move from Badarawa, Kaduna to were we meet now and worship because of the problems that befalled us during that fracas between christians and muslims. Since the religious Jihad war between the muslims and the christains, which we were badly affected, we have been having problem trying to start up again, we need a worship place, our church building at kaduna was distroyed, we also need support Below is a breif introduction about my self, family and work. We are fine and our congregation here is growing in spirit as well, except for the little handicapps we have in trying to carry out the work of the lord here. Below is a breif introduction. INTRODUCTION I am justice akataobi, married to vivian with two children, a male and female children. they are such a loving family from God. Nigeria is made up of three major ethnic groups. we have the north, east and the west with hausa , igbo and yoruba as their languages respectively. i am from the eastern part of nigeria, the north and the west is majorly dominated by the muslim religion. MY WORK I am a full time preacher, i preach in this congregation were i helped started. i started with my wife and two other brethren, organising worship in my little one room apartment today we are about 30 members, Today we now worship in a Brothers one room apartmanet, because we lost our church building during the fracas which was dimolished among other churches, lots of christians where killed and even injured of which i was a victim, i secured many injuries, though we still hope to get our permanent place of worship soon. bearly 2 months ago a faithful brother gave the church a plot of land for the rebuilding of the church permanent worshipping place. Though the church is not able to support me now at the moment but, hope it will in future when it is able. I have not been able to get a supporter abroad as most preachers do, or from other strong congregation or individual brother as authorized and supported by the scriptures, eg paul, i am still searching and looking for any church or individual brother who will support . our country here is corrupt, filled with bribery, there is no job, i could have looked for one to support myself, even when one come across one, you will be required to bribe your way through, this is against our faith and is not acceptable unto God. I and few faithful brethren have been able to acheive much and i hope as we continue to preach the truth, people will beleive and turn to God, and the church here is growing in spirit and truth. even though in our country here its has not been easy, muslims are still persecuting christians, religious wars do occur hear regularly, mostly in the north.each time this occur , churches are being burnt down by muslims with injuries inflicted on christians and death. Presently we have moved out from the brothers room were we worship and we rented a small room were we pay monthly which is not still enough for us. we are also trying to raise funds for the rebuilding of our place of worship. We hope God will touch you and provide so we will be supported for his work, hope to hear from you soon.
