Bright Morning Star Church Strategy Plan Part II Heralding the Good News of Jesus Christ in the Northeast communities of San Antonio. (This model strategy plan is from an example found on BGCT¡¦s website) I. Establishing the Vision: (Spiritual) To effectively use methods of Christian discipleship so that believers can operate within the will of God for their lives. Furthermore, we endeavor to embrace a multi-cultural expression of God¡¦s grace in establishing BMSCC; we pray to ¡§be made all things to all men that we might by all means save some¡¨. (Social) To empower and support the population through a practical use of God¡¦s Word utilizing the empowerment model and the strengths perspective. The empowerment model presupposes that we operate within our community and with each other from a power with; never power over¨ position. This is so that all will have the ability to learn and grow together and no one person or group is oppressed or lacking in anything. In a powerful way the apostles told everyone that the Lord Jesus Christ was now alive. God greatly blessed his followers, and no one went in need of anything¡¨ (Acts 4:33). II. Leadership Support and Development Pastor Willie A. Glaster, Jr. will seek and maintain levels of support throughout the life of Bright Morning Star Christian Center. a. Mentor: Pastor Charles Johnson. Rev. Anita J. Glaster will seek and maintain levels of support throughout the life of Bright Morning Star Christian Center. III. Ecumenical Support of Co-Laborers A large crop is in the fields, but there are only a few workers. Ask the Lord in charge of the harvest to send out workers to bring it in¡¨. (Mt. 9:37b-38) BMSCC will seek those who are like-minded to support this ministry. During these meetings BMSCC leadership will be enlisting those who are: a. Are Christians and are led and committed to the work. b. Have experience in the various areas of need. c. Will commit to spiritual gifts training. As of December 2003, there were 10 people who had shown an interest in this ministry. On January 2, 2004, each person was invited by letter to meet at 7115 Warrior Trail on January 10, 2004 for the first gathering of BMSCC. From this group, there is only one true prospect that the Pastor will contact to check for continued interest. On January 10, 2004, no one from the list attended. Rev. Willie Glaster and Anita Glaster performed the meeting agenda and closed the meeting with plans of continuing a bible study B. Enlisting members from our sponsoring church Our sponsoring church is Trinity Baptist Church On February 3, 2004, we met with Pastor Charles Johnson to discuss this option. We will request approximately 20-40 interested people to give human resource to the church start for approximately six months. Studies have shown that at least 40 people are needed from the sponsoring church to successfully begin a new start. These members will attend several meetings about BMSCC vision, plus they will receive evangelism training specific to the target group for the community that BMSCC will minister to. C. Enlisting members from other churches in the area Only one church has shown interest in supporting the efforts of this church plant. Pastor Maurice Washington of East St. Paul United Methodist Church offered to help with teaching and human resources. Trinity Baptist Church is the sponsoring church. D. Enlisting God¡¦s people through a community bible study Community bible study (by subdivision) will be a focused effort; while offering salvation to some, the opportunity to be a core member will be extended to those who are members of other churches and want to support a church plant. Additionally, reaching out to the unchurched, the bible study will strengthen their relationships with God as it recruits core members for BMSCC. The advertising will be done by direct mail using door knockers, local newspapers, community newsletters, and radio spots. E. Enlisting by associations and word of mouth The pastor and the team will canvas the community in an evangelist search for the unsaved, unchurched, and more core members. IV. Enlarging the Assembly To support continued growth and the morale of BMSCC, community bible studies (outreach) will continue. Outreach Plan The pastor and the assembly will continue to grow the church through community bible studies and evangelism efforts listed in section E above. Community bible studies will continue throughout the target area until the entire 78239 zip code is reached. From this point, the church will focus specifically The Glen Subdivision, to evangelize and start necessary ministries for this impoverished section of the city. V. Equipping The assembly will be equipped through preaching, bible study, evangelism training, and training for worship services with the help of other churches. A. Preaching B. Teaching Bible study will cover the vision of BMSCC for New Members (Eph. 4:1-6; Eph. 4:7-12; Eph. 4:13-16), Spiritual Gifts workshops and counseling for all, and New Convert classes. C.
