Holy Communion Policy: Holy Communion is offered to all baptized Christians who have been instructed and confirmed in the Lutheran Church, are currently members of a Missouri Synod congregation or a Lutheran congregation in fellowship with the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, and who receive the Sacrament believing that with the bread and the wine Christ Himself is present in His body and blood for the forgiveness of sins, life and salvation. All others who wish to commune at the Lord's Table are asked to kindly refrain from doing so until they have spoken with Pastor or an elder.
Scripture Lessons: First Lesson - Revelation 7:(2-8)9-17; Epistle - 1 John 3:1-3; Gospel Lesson - Matthew 5:1-12
A reading from the Apology of the Augsburg Confession, Article V, paragraphs 223-226, page 135. On All Saints' Day the Church celebrates the victory that our brothers and sisters who trusted in Christ have attained when they were called from this life to the glorious life in heaven. We miss them here, but do not wish them back. Rather, we desire to be with them and with the Lord, which is better by far.
Let us hold on to this confession of the Church: we are saved by mercy... The Scholastics have invented the doctrine of wholly deserving merit. We will, therefore, reply briefly. It is essential to believe that we are saved by mercy so that hope may be sure, so that there may be a resulting distinction between those who obtain salvation and those who do not. When this is expressed in this way without explanation, it seems foolish. For in civil courts and in human judgment, issues about rights or debts are certain, and mercy is uncertain. But the matter is different in God's judgment. Here mercy has a clear and certain promise and command from God. The Gospel is properly the command that directs us to believe that God is reconciled to us for Christ's sake. "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him" (John 3:17). Whenever mercy is spoken of, faith in the promise must be added. This faith produces sure hope, because it relies upon God's Word and command. If hope would rely upon works, then it would be uncertain, because works cannot quiet the conscience. Faith makes a distinction between those who obtain salvation and those who do not obtain it. Faith makes the distinction between the worthy and the unworthy, because eternal life has been promised to the justified. Faith justifies. As you receive God's gifts of forgiveness, life and salvation in Word and Sacrament, the Lord bless your worship of prayer, praise and thanksgiving. In Christ, be strengthened in the faith through His Word and Holy Spirit. Please prepare for worship in silence. Appropriate prayers prior to the service may be found in the very front of the hymnal and also on pages 308-313. All worshipers are asked to please sign the brown register pad and to complete a Communion card on Communion Sundays. Visitors are welcome to sign our guest register down the stairs to the left.

Following the offering, the ushers will collect the attendance/communion cards from the center isle. Please pass your card to the center at that time. Visitors are welcome to sign our guest register in the Church entrance.
