DECLARATION OF FAITH WE BELIEVE (i) In verbal inspiration of the Bible (ii) In one God eternally existing in three persons namely; Father, Son and Holy Spirit (iii) That Jesus Christ is the only begotten son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried and raised from the dead. That he ascended to heaven, and today is at the right hand of the Father as the intercessor. (iv) That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins. (v) That justification regeneration and new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ. (vi) In sanctification subsequent to the new birth through faith in the blood of Christ through the word and by the Holy Spirit. (vii) Holiness to God's standard of living for his people. (viii) In the baptism with the Holy Spirit subsequent to a clean hart manifested by deeds and utterances. (ix) In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterances. (x) In water baptism by immersion and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. (xi) Divine healing is provided for all in the atonement. STATEMENT OF FAITH Church of God, Jesus Way, Truth and Life Ministries for the whole Bible-old and new testaments. The Church government and discipline is purely based on the New Testament as the only rule to govern the church. Assemblies and conventions are held from time to time to search the scriptures so as to determine the direction of the church. PRACTICAL WAY OF LIFE OF A CHRISTIAN THE POWER OF PRAYER James 5:13 -18 -(13) Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is any one happy? Let him sing songs of praise (14) Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. (15) And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned he will be forgiven. (16) Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. (17) Elijah was a man just like us . He prayed earnestly that it would not rain and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. (18) Again he prayed and the heavens gave rain and the earth produced its crops. Prayer is a powerful tool in all circumstances of life. May it be in happiness, sickness or urgent need, earnest prayer brings about the intended result. Acts.25-30. Paul and Silas were in the jail awaiting praying and singing and at about midnight the doors of the jail opened due to the power of prayer. Confession is equally vital amongst brethren. One will get the benefit of healing after faithful confession. The scriptures state clearly that it is only the prayer of the righteous man which is powerful and effective. So there's need to know who is praying for who and to whom you are confessing. FASTING Through periods of fasting we draw close to God, meditate on the passion of Christ and discipline ourselves to submit to the control of the Holy Spirit in all areas of our life: Matt:6 16-18 "When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth they have received their reward in full (17) But when you put oil on your head and wash your face, (18) so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting but only to your father who is unseen and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you." It is common for human beings to express by any means their inner feelings. For example, people make some sort of noises when they are side so as to attract attention or invite sympathy from other people. I have personally witnessed brothers and sisters who cannot swallow saliva during the fasting period. Just imagine if ten people are in such a state and are spitting all over the floor what a nasty show can it be. We don't fast so as to be seen by other people but by our Father who is unseen and who at the same time sees what is done in secret. Fasting therefore is secret between yourself and God. The apostles went through such hardships and today we recognize their by products of their commitments. CONFESSION Through confession of our sins to God we are assured of divine forgiveness. The sharing of our confession with other believers provides the opportunity to request prayer and to bear one another's burdens. Galatians 6:2 "Carry each other's burdens and in this way will fulfill the Law of Christ" It is sometimes difficult to know for sure someone's nature of problems he/she is undergoing. So there is need to confess and pray for each other. James 5:16 "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective" MEDITATION AND STUDY OF THE WORD Through meditation on and study of the word of God we enhance our own spirit growth and prepare ourselves to help, guide and instruct others in scriptural truths. Joshua 1:8 "Do not let this book of the Law depart from your mouth, meditate on it day and night so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful."
