We welcome you
New Birth Ministries is a bible believing church that endeavors win souls for Christ through evangelism, community outreach, service, and education. We welcome all of Gods people to come and join us as we worship, serve, and share, in the name of Jesus!! We are located in Seattle Washingtons Skyway area and have been a part of this community since 2001. Our Pastor is Eld. Dr. Maynard G. Sopher and Carolyn Sopher. The Sopher family is part of the National Music Department of the Church of God in Christ Inc., and have traveled the country participating in praise and worship for over 30 years. New Birth Ministries began at a community center in central Seattle with about a dozen members. Most of these members were the children of Dr. and Sis. Sopher, and their families. In time the fellowship grew and the community center became too small for the membership. Soon, we found a building in the skyway district. The building was a tavern that had gone out of business and did not look as if it would acomodate a church. But, Dr. Sopher had faith in God, and the building was purchased in 1999 and remodeling began. Many of the renovations were done using materials that were donated by people in the community that shared in the vision for this unchurched neighborhood. The Sophers used much of their savings and personal resources to follow their vision for a place for the people of the skyway community. Volunteers and members worked day and night, to change this unlikely edifice into a place of beauty. Since then the members and leadership of New Birth Ministries has grown to fill the new facility, and has added many new and exciting departments. If you are in the Seattle area and need a place to come and worship, we welcome you to New Birth Ministries where; "we are a church of LOVE". If you have no church home, we invite you to fellowship with us where every bible student is a teacher in training.
What we believe
OUR BELIEF CONCERNING THE BIBLE We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible written Word of God. OUR BELIEF CONCERNING GOD We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. OUR BELIEF CONCERNING THE CHURCH We believe in the Blessed Hope, which is the rapture of the Church of God, which is in Christ, at His return. OUR BELIEF CONCERNING SIN We believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Jesus Christ. OUR BELIEF CONCERNING SALVATION We believe that regeneration by the Holy Ghost is absolutely essential for personal salvation. OUR BELIEF CONCERNING CHRIST We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing for the human body in answer to believing prayer . OUR BELIEF CONCERNING THE HOLY GHOST We believe that the baptism in the Holy Ghost, according to Acts 2:4 is given to believers who ask for it. OUR BELIEF CONCERNING SANCTIFICATION We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Ghost by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy and separated life in this present world
