Church History

In August 1995 following the Kentucky Second C.O.G.I.C. Second Annual Holy Convocation, Bishop H. Jenkins Bell, Jurisdictional Prelate of both the Kentucky Second and Tennessee Second Ecclesiastical jurisdiction's, also Adjutant General of the C.O.G.I.C. Worldwide, officially established a new ministry in Paducah. The Church was called "Tabernacle of Faith Church Of God In Christ" and is located at 1901 Bridge Street Paducah Kentucky. This was the beginning of a new beginning. the doors offically opened August 20, 1995 with a membership of only 3,then membership trippled. Bishop Bell and his congregation worked relentlessly morning till night to ready the building for the saints. At first sight many would have walked away shaking their heads in disbelief at the condition of the building but, things had come a mighty long way. Glory be to God! Bishop H. Jenkins Bell, a man that loves God and his people, wanted the building completed. He sacrificed his time, and money, and offered up prayers untill the doors were opened for service. He did all this spite his busy schedule. At Tabernacle of Faith new beginnings began with new doors, new carpet, new bathrooms and kitchen. As for the furniture, our dear Bishop Bell supplied the need. In order for the church to survive, he took money from his own resources to keep the doors open. Jesus said "Upon this rock I will build my Church , and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it." We thank God for Bishop H. Jenkins Bell for putting in his heart to establish a church in Paducah. "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord"; and he delighted in his ways. Money was never given to Bishop Bell for his efforts, but God blessed him, and the work, and we love him for it. We give God the Glory for Tabernacle of Faith ministries and the vision that Bishop Bell had for the church to make the beginning successful. In 1996 Bishop James H. Bell Sr.(not related to Bishop H. Jenkins Bell)Was appointed Jurisdictional Prelate of Kentucky Second and became our new leader. Bishop James Bell Pastored the Church untill Aug. 1998, when he appointed Elder Charles R. Davis Sr. as pastor. Elder Davis and his Family (6 children,2 grandchildren and wife) had moved here from Ohio in 1996, and joined Tabernacle of Faith in 1997. (That gave the membership quite a boost). Under Elder Davis pastorship Prayer and Bible Band was added to the weekly service and Friday night service shortly after. Membership began to grow along with the ministry. The church had began adding many working auxiliaries and departments. They included, Sunday School, YPWW, Prayer and Bible Band, Home and Foreign Mission Board, Purity Class, Sunshine Band, YWCC Plus Usher Board and Hospitality. God has blessed this ministry that was founded by Bishop H. Jenkins Bell. We hope that when he look down from heaven , that he will say well done. (extra notes) A new roof was put on in 1998, and the mortgage was paid off in 2003. On January 1, 2009 Elder Charles Davis Sr. Resigned as Pastor of Tabernacle of Faith Church Of God in Christ. Elder J.J. Zore was assigned as the new pastor.

We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible written Word of God. We believe that there is One God, eternally existent in three Persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We believe in the Blessed Hope, which is the rapture of the Church of God, which is in Christ at His return. We believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin, is through repentance, faith in the precious Blood of Jesus Christ and being baptized in water. We believe that regeneration by the Holy Ghost is absolutely essential for personal salvation. We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross provides healing for the human body in answer to believing in prayer. We believe that the baptism in the Holy Ghost, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who asks for it. We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling, the Christian is enabled to live a Holy and separated life in this present world, Amen.
