Mission Statement of St Stephen's

Parish Mission Statement: St. Stephen Liberal Catholic Church is an Independent Catholic community, not associated with the Roman Catholic Church, dedicated to the practice of Catholic faith; together we are called to realize our spirituality by living Christ's teachings. We encounter the loving and forgiving presence of Jesus in one another and in our celebration of the sacraments. Together we endeavor to comfort and give hope to all through loving acts of kindness.

Information on St. Stephen's

St. Stephen is a parish of the LCCI, while one among many Catholic Churches, in an Catholic community that practices Catholicism rooted in the beliefs and worship of the Catholic tradition. Bishops who can trace their lines back to the Apostles have ordained the clergy of St. Paul Liberal Catholic Church. This means our people celebrate the seven sacraments considered valid by the Catholic Church. In the Liberal Catholic Churches priests may marry and raise families. We are concerned about the tragedy of divorce, but in light of the Gospels, we do not see the exclusion of remarried people from the sacraments as consistent with the spirit of Christ's ministry. In our Church divorced people can celebrate their wedding before a priest. Couples in our parish are taught that having children is an important purpose of marriage, and that they must be responsible in the care of their families according to their ability to provide for them. We do not condemn the use of contraception. Everyone is welcome at St. Stephen Liberal Catholic Church with the Love of God. God does NOT discriminate, we don't discriminate. We see baptism as the sacrament of initiation that makes all of the other sacraments available to us. The Liberal Catholic Church does practice open communion, Holy Communion as well as Reconciliation and the Sacrament of the Sick (Last Rites) is for those have been baptized in the form of the Holy Trinity in any denomination and TRULY believe that Christ is present in the sacrament of Holy Communion. In the spirit of our tradition and as taught by the Liberal Catholic faith, we see the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church equal to that of any Bishop. We have our own Hierarchy in the Liberal Catholic Church that we are subject to. The community of St. Stephen's Church has established its own specific ministries that give parishioners opportunities to develop and exercise their own Catholic spirit through community works of charity and service. Call St. Stephen's Church and see how this Liberal Catholic Community can enrich your life. We are: TRADITIONAL, SACRAMENTAL, & LITURGICAL
