Mission Statement of The African Orthodox Church

A community of Christians who have come together under the guidance of the Holy Spirit to continue in the teachings and works of Christ. As modern disciples we seek to meet the physical and spiritual needs of our community growing in faith and unity throught African Orthodoxy.

African Christian Antiquity

Our Orthodox Church has deep and lasting roots in African Christian Antiquity and steeped in a rich biblical tradition. It has been the context of Christian living through out the world for millions and millions of Christians for over twenty centuries. The Doctrine of The African Orthodox Church, Ins., is common with all Orthodox Eastern Churches. We accept the Holy Scriptures as the Word of God, the Holy Traditions and the Dogmatic Decisions of the Seven Ecumenical Councils, The Holy Scriptures being interpreted in accordance with the teachings of the Apostles, the Holy Fathers and the decisions of the Ecumenical Councils. We believe, acknowledge and recognize Our Blessed Lord Jesus Christ as the Sole Head of the Christian and Catholic Church. We believe that the Third Person of The Blessed Trinity, The Holy Spirit, proceeds from the Father alone. We holor the Blessed Virgin Mary as THEOTOKOS (Mother of God). . . We believe an accept the seven sacraments, namely, Holy Baptism, Holy Confirmation, Holy Echarist, Holy Orders, Holy Matrimony, Holy Penance and Holy Unction. We hold the true doctrine of Transubstatiation to be the Real Presence. We hold that the belief in "Communion of Saints" requires us to pray for the dead as well as the living. We believe that the Central Act of Worship is the celebration of THE DIVINE LITURGY. We are a true part of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. We accept the Seven Ecumenical Councils held between 325 A.D. and 787 A.D. We believe in the justification of faith, necessary for eternal salvation.
