Brief History of the Diocese
The first Bishop of the Diocese was the late Right Rev.Jacob Chennam pallil born July 24, 1925,ordained deacon May 5, 1966 made Priest in August19, 1985 after 25 years of Christ's ministry entered into eternal glory in January 31, 1994. The Diocese spread in Thiruvanathapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta Districts. South Kerala Diocese is part of the greater Archdiocese of the Anglican Church of India. The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Vattapara is the Archbishop. South Kerala Diocese consited of fourteen parishes and several missions. Three full time clergy,14 lay Chaplains and 2 seminarians conduct the worship services. Lay secretaries.We have a very active Sunday schoo, Youth Fellowship, Women's fellowship led by different sub-commitee. A fifty five member diocesan council is the administrative body. We use the 1928Book of Common Prayer and KJV Bible. We are a Traditional Anglican Church.
