History and Pastor
Estsblished November 30, 1870 makes us the oldest Black Baptist
Church in Dayton, Ohio. Zion is the "Mother Church" to 4 other
baptist churches in the city. Our pastor, a young dynamic gospel
preacher came to us in 1992 from Metropolitian Baptist Church,
Washington, D.C. He has a BA from Bishop College, a M.Div.,
from Howard Univeristy, and a D.Div. from United Theological.
Outreach Ministries
Zion has an after-school tutorial program for students in need
of help with home-work and preparation for State Proficiency
tests. The program is well equipped with computers to aid in
Internet access and other applications. Zion also facilatates
Head Start in their ministering to more than 100 prs-schoolers.
